Hola, comunidad de amantes de la música, desde Venezuela, en un contexto histórico – vivencial pleno de extraños hechos e incertidumbres, la música se convierte en esas alas que nos permiten volar desde dentro. La magia de la música ¡Esa magia tan especial! A ella recurro hoy y la abordo como si de una “máquina del tiempo se tratase” para regresar a mi infancia… cuando contaba alrededor de 8 ó 9 años y vivía con mis padres y hermanos en una casita de paredes de bloques y techos de planchas de zinc, en lo alto de un cerro ubicado cerca de la carretera via Caracas – La Guaira. En un barrio llamado Blandín, que desapareció en diciembre de 1999,¨cuando ocurrió aquel espantoso deslave recordado como “el desastre de Vargas”
Para esta ronda 3 en la semana 117 les traigo una canción de quien para aquella época sonaba constantemente en la radio no solo venezolana sino de muchos otros países: el cantautor brasileño Roberto Carlos quien hoy, a sus 83 años se mantiene activo en el campo musical y sale de gira como si de un adolescente se tratase a reconquistar un público nuevo y seguir enamorando al antiguo con sus bellos temas y su inacabable voz. Cuenta con un equipo de 110 profesionales, que incluye una orquesta de 42 músicos. Admirable.

La canción de Roberto Carlos que seleccioné para participar esta semana es “Un Gato en la Oscuridad”, este tema tituló su álbum 14° y fue lanzado en 1972 en el sello CBS.

Escuché por primera vez esta canción siendo niña y se convirtió en una de mis favoritas. Para mí era sumamente atrayente el imaginarme un gato “triste y azul” y a un niño juguetón que saltaba por encima de las cercas del vecindario.

Es una canción que me gustó y me sigue gustando muchísimo, aun cuando ya adulta cambió para mí su connotación. Esa bella imagen de “el gato que está en nuestro cielo” me sigue dejando “en el sitio” y encantando, aunada, además, a una melodía muy grata y a esa voz extraordinaria de su autor e intérprete por excelencia.

Se que la canción les va a gustar y espero que también sea de su agrado mi interpretación.

Hello, community of music lovers, from Venezuela, in a historical-experiential context full of strange facts and uncertainties, music becomes those wings that allow us to fly from within. The magic of music ,That special magic! I turn to it today and approach it as if it were a “time machine” to return to my childhood… when I was around 8 or 9 years old and lived with my parents and siblings in a small house with block walls and iron roofs of zinc, on top of a hill located near the highway via Caracas – La Guaira.

For this round 3 in week 117 I bring you a song by someone who at that time was constantly playing on the radio not only in Venezuela but in many other countries: the Brazilian singer-songwriter Roberto Carlos who today, at 83 years old, remains active in the musical field and he goes on tour as if a teenager were trying to win back a new audience and continue to make the old one fall in love with his beautiful songs and his endless voice. The song by Roberto Carlos that I selected to participate this week is “Un Gato en la Oscuridad” (A Cat in the Darkness) this song was the title of his 14th album and was released in 1972 on the CBS label.

I first heard this song as a child and it became one of my favorites. It was extremely attractive to me to imagine a “sad and blue” cat and a playful child who jumped over the neighborhood fences.

It's a song that I liked and I still like a lot, even though as an adult it changed its connotation for me. That beautiful image of “the cat that is in our sky” continues to leave me “in place” and enchanting, coupled, furthermore, with a very pleasant melody and that extraordinary voice of its author and performer par excellence.

I know you will like the song and I hope you will also like my interpretation.
