Beautiful Things by Benson Boone: My View 🎶🎹🎙️💇🌅🧔
“Sam, if you don’t learn this song, I won’t like it.” Dayo had once called me out as she was busy enjoying the music in her apartment. “I want you to sing this song for me. I just like the lyrics ,” she added.
As a nine to five-er that I was back then, I was so tired and still chose to visit her before going to my own place. Deep down I was already questioning her actions.
“Is this how to appreciate someone who had just sacrificed their time to be with you?” As I ruminated on my thoughts. She pulled my ears playfully and insisted that I sing the song for her.
Beautiful Things by Benson Boone is a very emotional song that kept bringing memories of Dayo. We departed and afterwards I can now sing the song.
Who knows whether I could have saved the union by learning the song before our separation? But that wasn't the reason for our breakup though.
I feel Dayo is a beautiful thing that was taken away from me, although I have found something more beautiful, I never thought I’d lose her. The lyrics of the song “Beautiful Things,” by Benson Boone is an uncommon blend of well written words with deep meaning.
I believe the first stanza talked about a guy who had just had a trying time and/or a heartbreak, probably away from his family.
He was gradually recovering from all his challenges and just then things got better as God decided to send a girl his way in the second stanza.
The girl was obviously what he had always prayed for as he was thanking God for the girl He sent his way in the third stanza. He however got scared of losing her (just like I lost Dayo), as he suspects that God can decide to take whatever he gives away anytime He wills.
In the fourth stanza, the song made us realize that the guy is already getting comfortable with the lady God sent his way and he will never love to let go of such felling.
The rest of the song expressed his calmness, sanity and fear as he begs God not to take the beautiful things he’s got.
If I were to rate the song, I will give it a nine out of ten because it’s giving. The vibes, the rhythm, lyrics and melody are on point. I have listened over and over to the song and can’t seem to get enough.
