It's been a bit since I've been in @ablaze 's #threetunetuesday community, but I finally got around to taking some photos of a recent add to my vinyl collection. The first album I thought I'd share is Reset, a collaboration work between Animal Collective's Panda Bear and Spacemen 3's Sonic Boom. I read an article that both of these artists are currently residing in Portugal; Kember, aka Sonic Boom, is a know vinyl audiophile. This album is actually quite solid, and as I found as a gift my brother sent to me for my birthday. So without further ado, three songs from this vinyl from my collection.

Reset : Gettin' to the Point

I believe the intro is sampled from an Eddie Cochrane song...the best part of this album are all the oldies you can hear that Sonic has culled into the new songs. This one features Cochrane's riff, and that all so elegant Spacemen 3 sequencer floating along in the background...yum.

Reset : Go On

That guitar lick is a good old fashioned Troggs guitar pieces. I love the Troggs; think of them as sort of a mix between the Kinks and the Beatles...nonetheless, this song is another example of old and new. I do like the outtro that kicks in around the last 40 seconds or so. If you listen closely, you can hear that oh so sweet Spacmen/Spectrum lick at the tail end. I love it; Troggs and Spacemen...what a mix.

Reset : Edge of the Edge

Where did this intro come from? Well, that happens to be Randy and the Rainbow's Denise...a great song from the AM doo wop days. Check it out if curious...in the meantime, here is another good mix of old and new. Doo wop and Panda Bear and Kember...it's a mix, yeah?

These were fun! When the first song started I was expecting something quite acoustic. Lo! The surprise was there. Very fun!

I think they are going on tour soon too...or maybe they started. I'd pay up to see them live if possible.

Cool man, looking forward to hearing these now, and welcome back to the fold.

Off to a great start with Gettin' to the Point which I really liked man, there is just great vibe to it that brings a smile to my face.

Go On is another great one and I reckon this album will be a real grower for you and get better with every listen, the mix of "old and new" is a great idea and really works well.
