Three Tune Tuesday : The Everly Brothers

Getting back to my AM radio"rediscovery" of late, courtesy of a local radio station I discovered while taking various landscape photos of the area, I thought I'd share some old time harmonies. No no, not the Wilsons, or the Beatles, or even doo wop this time...instead, for this week's #threetunetuesday, as inspired by @ablaze, i wanted to share some music from the Everly Brothers.

Formed by Phil and Don Everly in Tennessee during the 1950's, most consider the duo as pioneering influence on country rock. Yet it wasn't just country rock, as a lot of the English bands with fantastic harmonies found their rock in the Everlys.

Don't believe me? I get it...yet take a listen below and listen to those steel string acoustic guitars and harmonies...wonderful stuff!

Everly Brothers : Bye Bye Love

Every time I hear this song, I think of Paul, John, and George sitting around in some Liverpool family room with guitars in the late 50's...picking away at the chords and attempting to hit the harmonies with their formative vocals. Hey, I get it. This one is an oldie, but a goodie, no doubt...I pretend to be an Everly every time I hear it in the car (and alone!)

Everly Brothers : Till I Kiss You

This is actually the song I heard on said radio station as I drove back from the sleepy town of Trempealeau, Wisconsin yesterday. Sure, I managed a couple of interest landscape shots of the Mississippi River on a dreary, rainy day, but this song was the highlight of the afternoon excursion. I'm just happy the station bounces so well around the valley (thank you amplitude modulation!)

Everly Brothers : Cathy's Clown

Another one with a some wonderful harmonies. There is something odd about the time signature on this one; odd, but I like it. There is something timeless about this duo...it's hard to explain. I hope you hear it too (or maybe I'm just romanticizing my newfound refinds too much!)

That's it for this week's #TTT; thanks for stopping by and let me know what you think! Have you heard these before? Or is this old news...let me know !

Great tunes! Whenever I think of the Everly Brothers, I think of All I Have to Do is Dream. We have a local musician who adds a lot of "shtick" to his act. Whenever he sings that song, and comes to the part, "...only trouble is, gee whiz...", he changes it to "cheese whiz."

You were definitely born in the wrong decade man, you'd have loved to be around eighteen in the 1950s I reckon, what do you think? If you could be 18 at any year, what one would you pick?

These Everly Brothers are good man, great #ttt share, nice one
