Back to another #threetunetuesday vinyl share, as inspired by @ablaze. This week's share features an album by the California group, the Beach Boys. This ablum doesn't feature a lot of greatest hits that some of you might know, but that's the best part. I love these old Beach Boy albums that originated after their "alleged" heyday. This one has a few of them to share, so here we go.

Quick note : this ablum was released on December 18, 1967, and came amidst the carnage of Brian Wilson's epic Smile meltdowns. The Beatles, having released Pepper and Mystery Tour that same year, from what I recall, was difficult on the pop genius Wilson. That's if I recall my pop music correctly from all those books I read years ago...

I initially discovered this album while in college. A friend who was in my accounting classes burned a bunch of CDs for me, and in it was this one. The CD collection also included My Bloody Valentine and the Velvet Underground...so yeah, those were the days!

Wild Honey : Darlin'

Up first is Darlin'. This one is one you might be familar with. I think it was their biggest hit of the album. The group was moving a Mowtown and R&B phase at this point in their career, and you can hear it in that piano line. And those harmonies. And those lyrics. What a classic underrated Wilson and Love track.

Wild Honey : I'd Love Just Once to See You

This is another gem from the band's insane library. I like this one's simplicity; the acoustic guitar, guitar's chords, and chorus, I think, move pretty well together for a time of Magical Mystery Tours. My favorite part kicks in at 1:15; great lyrics and the harmonies on the outtro are fantastic. I only wish more of that harmony part was in this more often.

Wild Honey : Let the Wind Blow

Source

The last one on the album to share is a bit more melancholy in nature...maybe even moody. The disonant piano is present, as well as the time shifts, harmonies, and lyrics. I believe the song attempts to correspond nature with love; I'm no poet, but there is an urgency in the chorus that I appreciate it. I mean, it is the Beach Boys after all...

Thanks for checking out my #TTT. Until next week! I'll be revisiting my vinyl collection this week to find a few more shares.

I love this album, it's a gem! And you have it so preserved. It's good to know this other facet of this great band. Without a doubt, the first song is my favorite.

I love your vinyl collection, I have to take a look at them.

A hug @sagesigma

Thanks! Glad to know there are other Beach Boy fans on Hive, lol...I worry they are too "old fashioned" you know?

Hahahaha, don't worry about outdated, you'll see what I'm going to bring to #ttt 112, that's outdated, hahahaha. The Beach Boys are a classic, and the classics are always in force.

With all their comings and goings, I've always liked this band, their music generally makes my soul happy.

Those were the days is right man, good auld memories.

No better man than yourself to dig out some tunes from a famous musician that most people have not heard before.
