Three Tune Tuesday : Dream Pop Sessions, pt I

It's been a bit since I've been able to share some music for @ablaze 's #threetunetuesday. I always have music in mind, but then narrowing music down to three choices per week...it's daunting for me! What should I say about this song? Why do I like that song? And why am I still listening to The White Album in my car??

Let's get back in the grove and go with some dream pop. For the next few weeks, I'll share some dream pop selections for #TTT that hopefully some will grow to appreciate. Or perhaps already know and appreciate. And guess what...I promise no more Beatles. I can't guarantee, however, that they haven't worn off on some the upcoming tracks I look forward to sharing with everyone on Hive. So with that all said, let's look to the stars and dream away....

Beach House : Once Twice Melody

Well, no surprise I suppose. The current poster child for dream pop...and that is Beach House. This is the first track off the same album that was highly regarded two years ago. It is a classic Beach House track; a simple beat line and lots of acoustics. Maybe bordering on shoegaze...but I'm going with dream pop tonight.

Mazzy Star : Flowers in December

What have we here? A classic emo video from the mid 90's? Yes we do. What a harmonica lick on this track, too. I don't know why I didn't find this band in the 90's when I was finding all the other alt rock stuff of the time. Well, it's better to find it now than never, I guess...

Wild Nothing : Chinatown

Source

And last on this round goes to the Wild Nothing. Another band I had no idea existed...until now. This one definitely has the MBV moog rif up front, but then jumps into some type of Jesus and the Mary Chain sound thereafter. I guess this was released in 2010; again, another one I have never heard before. Yet, it has grown on me this past week.

That's it for this week's #threetunetuesday share. Let me know what you think below. More to come next week...
