I warned youngest (who was also checking out the sheet music) that you said musicians default into robot and he stared uncomprehendingly at me XD

LOL... a bit too young to understand it... but it is a trap that we start training towards at a young age. Prioritising technical "rightness" over musical understanding... it is easier to teach the first, and difficult to teach the second. A bit like teaching comprehension and critical thinking... hard to do, but much more rewarding.
