Kalikasan, Kabataan, Kalayaan: An Evening of Connecting Music
On June 12, 2024, the entire Danawanons at Cebu Technological University – Danao Campus focused on a grand celebration that shed light not only on Independence Day, but also on the importance of nature and youth. "Nature, Kabataan, Kalayaan: A Youth Music Fest", organized by the SAVE ME Movement (Students' Actions Vital to the Environment and Mother Earth Movement), became a hub of fun, inspiration, and unity.
This historic day was held at the Cebu Technological University - Danao Campus, and was crowded with youth, families, and friends from other places. In the middle of the cold night, music shines as a symbol of freedom, nature, and youth unity.
According to the official statement of the SAVE ME Movement:
"It's free, guys! Where are you? Bring your friends, family, and maybe your loved ones. Let's celebrate Independence Day together, protect our nature, and inspire the youth. "
This is a strong call to the youth to continue the fight for nature while celebrating Independence Day. The theme of "Kami Naman" strengthens the Filipino spirit—a call to the youth to stand up and promote a better future.

The highlight of the evening was the brilliant performances from some famous Filipino artists who truly brought the program to life:
KZ Tandingan – She took the stage with her powerful voice.
Illest Morena – Brought her unique musical style to the delight of the audience.
Yuki Sakamoto – Rocked with his covers of popular songs.
Playertwo – Brought fun vibes that made everyone go crazy.
Over October – The most anticipated by many, including me!
Each performance was a reminder of how important music is to youth unity. Under the cold night, each song became a symbol of hope and love for the people.
Personal Experience: An Evening of Freedom and Fun
One thing I can say for sure: I will never forget this night.
Together with my classmates, we went to the concert grounds early to secure good seats. With the crowd, we could hardly move, but it was worth it to see the artists up close, especially Over October.
"Ikot" is my favorite song from the band, and hearing it live was like a dream come true. Even though I'm a new fan of theirs, I can feel the passion in their music. With every note and lyric, it's as if they're saying that we can face any challenge as long as we're united.
Other Featured Activities
Music was not the only thing that colored the night. There were also many activities that kept everyone entertained:
Face Painting – Colorful designs that symbolize nature and freedom.
Photo Booth – Together with friends, we took photos as a memory of this special day.
The whole place is full of life and fun. Even though the night was cold, everyone was warmly welcomed in the spirit of music and nature.
The Spirit of "Kami Naman"
The SAVE ME Movement aims to give youth a voice on issues such as nature and freedom. Through their "Kami Naman" campaign, they encourage youth to become leaders of change.
This night is proof that the youth have the ability to unite for a better future. It's not just a concert; it is a call to love nature, fight for freedom, and pay attention to the needs of the people.
At the end of the concert, we all went home with smiles on our faces and inspiration in our hearts. "Kalikasan, Kabataan, Kalayaan" is not just a music fest; it's a reminder that music, nature, and youth have the ability to change the world.
For me, it's not just a night of fun. It's a night of freedom—freedom to express my love for nature, for music, and for the people.
