Hive Open Mic Week 166 | Here Comes the Sun

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

For Hive Open Mic Week 166, I chose the song Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles. The melody is so catchy and the vibe it creates matches the meaning that this song is communicating to me. It's telling me that if you are in the season in your life where it all seems dark, cold, and gloomy, remember that it will not last. The sun will soon come to light up your world. So no matter what you're going through right now, never give up. There's hope.

I studied the ukulele cover of Here Comes the Sun through this video and practiced this one during my quiet time since Monday. As part of our homeschooling journey, I make sure to allocate 2 hours during the day for me to just sit back, relax, and rest from all the motherly responsibilities. It helps me take control of my life and just grow as a human being. I am thankful that I found this habit of just spending time for myself because it has helped lessen all the stress and overwhelming feelings that has been boiling up inside of me.

Just like in the song, I used to be in several long, cold, lonely winter seasons in my life. This song helped me realize that those seasons change and loneliness and sadness doesn't last that long. Now, I know that if I'll be going through those seasons again, there is something to look forward to. Everyday, the sun will rise. All I need to do is to never give up.

While I was studying this song, I couldn't get off my mind the interaction I had with @naymhapz a few days ago. I know we haven't met personally, but I feel some sort of connection with you. Our interaction on your last post got stuck in my mind. I know better than to ask the details of your heartaches in the blockchain but please know that you can always message me on my soc meds if you need someone to talk to. I kept thinking about you while I was singing this song and I want to let you know that no matter what you're going through right now, the sun will soon come.

Going back to the song, I challenged myself with the riffs and finger picking in this cover. I know I haven't mastered it yet, I'm still going to continue learning and practicing. During my recording of this video, my daughter was watching me and I love how supportive she is. She was really very honest and objective in giving feedback about where I need to work on. She said words like "Nanay, maybe you need to practice that part a little bit more." or something like "You have to make it a bit slower." And whenever I got the riffs correct, she is quick to say "That was much better, Nanay! I love it!" It just dawned on me that this is how I coach her whenever she's practicing her ballet dance. I'm glad that she is emulating my example.

So that's it for my Hive Open Mic week 166 entry. I hope you enjoyed listening to it as much as I did!

Your message melted my heart @romeskie. My eyes were shedding tears and I can't stop them from flowing when I read that you are ready to listen to my sentiments 😭😭😭.

Honestly, we were talking about you when we had our mountaineering hours ago with @callmesmile and @jobeliever which will be posted later on. Ayaw ko kasing naka stay palagi sa bahay, I keep on looking for an exit where I can release at least a little bit of my heartaches.

Thank you so much for the friendship even though we haven't met each other personally and have just known our identities thru social media. I know I can lean on you and I will be connecting with you any time from now.

Forever I'm grateful for this 😘.

Do what you got to do para mag heal ang heart mo. Sarap din naman mag climb ng mountains every now and then.

Yes, message me anytime. Most of the time nasa discord lang din naman ako.

Marami kami dito from Cebu's North na willing to meet you.

Yes, nakakagaan ng feeling ang trekking with friends and of course as always my lil Rixie Mae. Ibang-iba talaga pag we are reconnecting with nature.

Wow! What a beautiful message of the song "Here Comes The Sun". Honestly it is the first time I hear this song sis. You have a very good voice and I am amazed you are playing a guitar. Something I do not know how to play. I commend you for an excellent performance. I hope you are well.

Indeed, here comes the sun but the issue with us is that we give up too quickly when our sun is on its way.

I like the fact that your song was borne out of a desire to be of help, to be there for a friend who needs it.

I enjoyed listening to you sing. My regards to your daughter too. Much love🥰

I love the message of the song. Though I am not familiar with it, while I was listening to you singing, I found the song "singable". Hehe I am planning to purchase a ukelele, too. I used to learn how to play guitar before.

Yeeey! Push na sa pag buy ng ukulele! Tapos join na agad sa hive open mic. Haha. I play the guitar too but I find ukulele more to my liking. Mas nagkasundo kami ng ukulele kesa ng guitar.

Thank you. :) The song is very inspiring too. I think this is one of the reasons why The Beatles is still famous even long after their time.

I really do love how you express musically...and I must say you are one of the few women who I've seen play the mandolin. Your mild yet melodious voice is one I envy. I should take some lessons on the mandolin from you sometime. A phenomenal rendition. It's my first time coming across your post and it was enjoyable and uplifting

Thanks for sharing🥲💜🎶🎼🎸

Thank you. I think the mandolin has more strings than the ukulele. It's one of the string instruments I'd like to learn too.

Hello Kothy!!! Feeling songerist lang. Haha. I also never got to listen to the entire song, just until the first chorusnlang ako usually kasi super catchy talaga yung doo doo doo doo na part eh. I think yung part na yan is a blessing and a curse sa song na ito. Haha.

Uy, malapit na ang bakasyon mo. Or bakasyon mo na? Hope you're having fun. :)

One of the greatest classics of the modern era of music. I always enjoy this song and every version of it. Yours is not far behind, it sounds great in your beautiful soprano voice and accompanied by the ukulele. Bravo sister, I loved your participation...
