The first light of dawn found me staring at the emptiness beside me. Another day without you. Some mornings, the sun's warm rays tried to breathe some cheer into my numb heart, other times, the greyness and haze mingled with the sadness that overcame me.
My heartbeat throbbed in a silent lament or cried out your name in despair.
The sunsets were no consolation either. Nostalgia hovered over me like a cloak, longing to have you near so you wouldn't forget me.
Only when the hope that you still loved me, despite the distance, was reborn, my soul would light up with smiles. The nights could be magical if I imagined your presence, or plunge into absolute darkness if the distance overwhelmed me.
That's how my time passed without you, like a seesaw of mixed emotions. Until one day, like a miracle, you came back to stay and bring back the brightness in my days.
