Today I want to talk about Skrillex's new album Quest for Fire, the artist's second studio album, after 9 years since his first album Recess, after so much waiting, finally in February 2023 Quest for Fire was released, the first of the two he has released this year, with a total of 15 songs being the longest yet.
And without further ado, let's get down to business.

Being one of the first singles to come off the album, it's a different theme than what we were used to, simple lyrics, a lively drop, with Bobby Raps as a featured song and a good start to the album in my opinion, however it's not my opinion. favorite songs, but the main sampler makes itself felt throughout the album.

I'm not going to lie to you, I didn't like this song at first, but little by little I liked it more and more, being a kind of remix or relaunch of a song by Missy Elliott Work It from 2002, it's a short song mixing Rap with electronics featuring the aforementioned rapper Missy Elliott & Mr.Oizo as a surprise.

It is a solid song, with a very good rhythm and good collaborations

From here the album improves a lot, and this song influences a lot, for me if it's not the best it's in the top 3 for sure, Joker & Sleepnet did an incredible collaboration on this song, and I have to add the Navi sample from The Legend of Zelda is exquisite.

Being the first official single from the album we were all moved, it's a good song to promote the album, it's simply spectacular Flowdan is a very good addition to the song and the instrumental by Skirllex and Fred again... it's the best, in general it is a good song.

Being a song that came out almost two years ago, and to include it in the album is a surprise, I didn't expect it but it's a very good surprise since I love that song, it's a little more romantic song than the rest but which works really well with the instrumental, Skrillex is joined by Starrah & Four Tet to make one of Skrillex's best songs.

This song is solid for me, but it's not one of the best at all, its drop is fine but I think it needs something more, I think its best part is that of Aluna, who sings throughout the song, and I really think that without it the song would go on to make one of the worst, but I'll go back and repeat, it's a solid song and it works on its own, I'm just saying that it could be better.

Like the last song, the song revolves around the singer but in this song it is well done, it is built in a better way, with a drop that reaches more than the previous one, the lyrics are not wonderful but that is one of Skrillex's essences, something he's been using for many years and which fans love, me included.

It's a very good song and the way it's done is perfect.

The lyrics of this song repeat a short verse from Ghandara that describes a traditional wedding procession from Jerusalem, the capital of Nai Barghoui's origin, a somewhat long song compared to the rest but still one of the best on the album, being the last single before The release of the album made us want more, being a jewel of the album, everything is perfect, its drop is very good, with highs and lows, all very well produced.

This song is in the top 3 best songs for sure.

This theme is a kind of remix to the song of the same name from almost two years ago, much more lively and with a drop included, thus giving me a better version than the previous one, not detracting from the original but for me this version is better.

Now, it's not that it's perfect either, I didn't like this song at first, even now I don't feel it's my favorite, but I go back and repeat, it's not a bad song, it's just not for me.

We return to something recurring on the album which is the mix of rap with electronics, this time Skrillex uses the bass very well and Flowdan's voice is quite deep and he plays very well with that, with a lot of bass, a lot of bass and it suits him very well. well, and both Flowdan, BEAM & PEEKABOO did spectacular.

It is a very good song with an instruction that you expect a different song and it turns out that it is not like that and the result is very good.

In the only sketch on the album; the title "Warped Tour '05" is an ode that refers mainly to the eleventh installment of the annual music festival Vans' Summer Warped Tour that was organized in 2005 in which around 100 rock bands perform (Sonny would participate in the list with his then rock band, First to Last, in which he was the band's lead vocalist.

This skit is part of an interview with Sonny and also with Fall Out Boy bassist and head writer Pete Wentz, and coincidentally, it would be where their friendship would begin.

Pete Wentz teased a collaboration with Skrillex in 2016 with a tweet, where he sarcastically responded to a fan who wanted a collaboration between the two with a photo of him and Sonny.

Approximately 7 years later, on February 11, 2023, Skrillex would preview the collaboration for Quest For Fire at a set in his basement, which would also be their first collaboration.

To start this song is perfect, there is something that for those who already know a bit of Sonny's music will remind them of a previous installment, which is Face My Fears for the Kingdom Hearts lll game, which end up being very similar, but both they are very very good and a total success

Almost finishing the album we find Supersonic, again this song came out almost 2 years ago, but that doesn't mean that it's a tremendous song, one of the best in recent years for Sonny, it has everything and a drop that surrounds you...

It is the long-awaited remix of the song of the same name by Josh Pan and Dylan Brady. This is the second official collaboration between Skrillex and his longtime collaborator, the Dutch trio Noisia.

This is basically a bridge to what would be the last song of the project, in which its premelodic and chopped sound prevails.

Taking older songs for this interlude samples Snoh Aalegra's 2017 song "Time" and Hilary Duff's 2003 song "What Dreams Are Made Of", both of which also appear on the following song as part of its transition.

Honestly I don't think there is a better ending for this project, honestly this song fulfills its function very well, everything in it I think is perfectly well done and not a single complaint.

The song is about the idea that people have the necessary loyalty from others who are still there to stay with them to achieve new moments in the future.

In conclusion it is a good album, full of ups and downs, good songs, weak songs but overall a good album.

Was it worth waiting so many years? Honestly no, waiting so long to get to this point I think it was worth it, but nevertheless it is somewhat offset by the fact that there are very good songs and that there are many songs, we must also add that the day after leaving This album released another album with 12 songs, if you add all that up, maybe, but in general, I don't think it was worth it.

But in general I go back and repeat, it is a good album, with very good songs and very enjoyable, something in which Skrillex never fails, since all his music has always had a soul, and in this project it is not lacking either.

In general I give it a 7/10, I think it's a good album, very enjoyable and my only fault is that if this album had come out 4 or 5 years ago it would have been better, but hey, it's been almost three months now and I'm still following it. listening :)
