Trending Audio Be Damned

avatar

There's a few records that Jamie'll put on a Saturday morning that always make me happy. Sometimes we wouldn't have listend to these songs for years and it's a blast from the past, making us wonder why we haven't listened to them in so long. One of them is this by Badmarshnshri - it's just a lovely sentiment too, to think of someone as the air you breathe.

I also love the album art. It reminds me of this photograph taken in Sapa in Vietnam - basically the universal sign for 'don't get electrocuted'.

If you've spent any time on Instagram, you'd know that one of the ways you get lots of likes and be supported by the algorithm is to use the trending audio. It drives me bonkers, because most of the trending audio is awful, generic and not our taste. Still, we're forced to use it - though I have to use a decent tune once in a while to break it up.

I usually ask Jamie for a tune as he comes up with one pretty quickly. This morning's reel was Hollie Cook's Milk and Honey. Think sexy bassline, trumpets, and voice. Delicious, sultry, hip moving, happy days. Honestly I never hear Makeba on Insta again it'll be too freaking soon.

I did protest about on a post some influencer had written about trending audio. That comment alone has something like 100 likes. It really resonated with people and to be honest I think it's one of the worst decisions Meta/Insta has made - apart from Threads, which I don't understand and appears to be going nowhere fast. Trending audio absolutely takes away creativity, self expression and uniqueness - yet I'm forced to use it. The more likes we get, the more followers we have, the more free shit I can get for our Defender, haha! So go give us a follow, y'all.

It's been a long time since I've done a Three Tune Tuesday for @ablaze - I listen to music all the time but I always forget to write down the tunes I want to share, and when I sit down to it, I completely forgot what I have already shared and what I wanted to share this week! Kudos to those more organised than me... but I guess going with the flow and rhythm is good too, right?

Since Prince Fatty produced the above, may as well shimmy shimmy...

What are you listening to this week? Drop your #ttt post or a video below for an upvote - let's have a musical conversation.

With Love,

I know the feeling, its like good music can age too as anything else, like something you havent taste in years and now its even better than before although the effect might not be the same as a song that is a hit and has been release recently, years ago I meet a guy who was listening to music and I ask what you listening too whats the name of the song his answer "I dont know, dont want to know because then it loose the effect quicker" make sense, there are simple things that can change our mood in minutes, a smile, songs, so simple

Oh funny when I like the song I have to find out what it is. The google search button for audio is pretty good at identifying most stuff unless it's super new or rare.

Love that shot from Vietnam. Connections like that are what bonds us so tightly to some songs. Thats for sharing on #ttt

My darling woman. I do like you. And your music. And your Landy.

very, very much (;))

But there's no way in no hell anyway that I'm going to join Instaham to support you. Nice to hear about that particular joyride though. And in such fine words!

Lovely tunes as always! Happy Friday!

I've been lucky to get any likes on Instagram. it's almost depressing! I just don't know how to play the game at all. Alas.

Hollie Cook's Milk and Honey was really fun. I liked that. 😀

I know exactly what you mean, that happens us regularly in this house too.

Ah ya, go with the flow, that's a great outlook too, and who cares if you share a tune twice, though so far I don't think you have, so that hat holder is working just fine! Dig the tunes again this week, a nice eclectic mix as always, hope all is well with you and Jamie and ye are living yer best lives.
