HGS: Showcase App Thicket - Where we are, where we're going

avatar

Thicket began back in the days of Steem when @bflanagin was working as a freelance developer trying to build (as so many were) a future on the chain. His mission then is the same as it is now: to build a bridge for traditional games and applications to use Hive and be a part of the decentralized "Web3" future.

So what is Thicket? If you've ever used Valve's Steam you already have a pretty good idea of what its primary focus is, but for those who don't here is a list of the features planned for 1.0:

  • Games

    • Download
    • Management
    • Achievements
    • Upload
    • Direct to Hive reviews
    • Community features
    • Private and public sharing (betas and what not)
  • Music

    • Playlists
    • Download
    • Upload
    • Direct to Hive reviews
    • Community features
    • Private and Public sharing (exclusives)
  • Video (This will require another extension, probably already available)

    • Playlists
    • Download
    • Upload
    • Private and public sharing (exclusives)
  • Pictures (of course)

    • Slide shows
    • Upload
    • Download
    • Galleries
    • NFT Showroom integration
  • Hive Backed P2P transfers

  • Content creation with Hive publishing, reviews, discussions, etc.

It's a large list, but we aren't starting from scratch. Most if not all of the above features were working in one way or another in previous builds, so the ground work has been done. With the new version being rebuilt on a Native SDK (which we are creating in tandem with Thicket) it should make distribution of the software much easier, and, with a dedicated developer (pending funding), Thicket will make a great showcase for all things Hive!

Our Current Proposal

Hive Gaming Services aims to not only make integrating Hive into your next game project possible, but also decrease the overhead of creating games and applications. If that is something you're into, or you see the benefit of initiatives like it, give us a like and a follow!
