The meaning of the song is all about calling the name of the Lord, which is Ebenezer, because there is no one that can help in times of need. Only Ebenezer can help me in circumstances or difficult situations. I so much love this song because it is a way of calling the name of God, because at the mention of the name of Jesus, every power in heaven and on earth bows. And every mountain that comes my way, by faith, it moves because God says if your faith is as small as a mustard seed, it can move mountains. So, this song gives me the power and the strength to overcome all my problems. So whenever I'm in a problem or whenever I have backslidden from the word of God, the only thing I do is to sing this song and call on the name of my Father in Heaven, that He may come and show me the right path to take and direct all my ways, turn me away from all unrighteousness, and purify my heart.
I choose this song because if I am in trouble or if I am in a difficult situation, there is no one I can run to. But once I call the name of the Lord, my God, He always answers me. Anytime I am in need, when I look up to the hills and I look up to the sea, there is no one I can run to except my Help (Jesus).
This song has really been a help to me. It gives me the knowledge and the understanding that the word I just need to do in order that my prayers and the attention of God come to me is just to put faith and trust in God, and He will take over everything and grant all my needs and heart's desires.
So when we trust in the Lord, He shall surely come through for us.
And God also said that when we draw close to Him, He will also draw close to us. So whenever I'm in need of anything, I call the name of the Lord. I draw near to Him, and He hears my call because He made it clear that my help comes from the Lord.
