Ya que había hecho un sketch de Arpegius, quise hacer uno también del valiente y tímido héroe de Interstella 5555: Shep.

Su primera aparición en la historia es con la canción “Digital Love”, donde se le ve limpiando su nave espacial en traje de astronauta mientras canta la canción, luego regresa a la cabina y una vez en su habitación, mientras escucha la música se queda dormido y tiene un sueño con Stella, la bajista de la agrupación.

Shep tiene un crush con ella, pero se nota que no se atrevía a decir nada, más allá de lo que revela su sueño. Al enterarse que fueron secuestrados, no duda en ponerse en marcha para rescatarlos y en el proceso de persecución su nave resulta dañada, estrellándose en la Tierra.

Shep es un personaje bastante carismático ya que reúne las condiciones y características de un héroe y a la vez, tiene lado tierno y vulnerable, lo cual hace que público se sienta identificado con él.

Me gusta mucho la paleta de colores que usaron para su diseño. Son tonos muy vivos y con alt9 contraste, lo cual le da un aire de arte pop.

Trabajé el boceto con las brochas de acuarela opacas. Para el fondo las transparentes. Han resultado muy buenas para colorear rápido. Creo que las usaré para las pruebas rápidas de color cuando esté diseñando nuevos personajes o definiendo colores para los fondos.

Me está resultando muy útil la práctica de sketches a color. Este lo terminé en media hora. Tal vez serían unas dos horas haciendo el lineart en limpio y coloreando en cell shading para darle es aspecto de anime.

Creo que haré una versión en limpio de él también junto con Arpegius. No me he decidido si continuar dibujando a los demás miembros de la banda. Tal vez sí lo haga después de practicar a otros personajes.

Since I had made a sketch of Arpegius, I wanted to make one of the brave and timid hero of Interstella 5555: Shep.

His first appearance in the story is with the song "Digital Love," where he is seen cleaning his spaceship in astronaut attire while singing the song. Then he returns to the cabin and once in his room, while listening to the music, he falls asleep and has a dream with Stella, the bassist of the band.

Shep has a crush on her, but it is clear that he does not dare to say anything beyon what his dream reveals. Upon knowing that they have been kidnapped, he does not hesitate to set out to rescue them, and in the process of pursuit, his spaceship is damaged and crashes on Earth.

Shep is a very charismatic character as he combines the qualities and characteristics of a hero while also having a tender and vulnerable side, which makes the audience identify with him.

I really like the color palette they used for his design. They are very vibrant tones with high contrast, which gives it a pop art feel.

I worked on the sketch with opaque watercolor brushes. For the background, I used transparent ones. They have worked very well for quick coloring. I think I will use them for quick color tests when designing new characters or defining colors for backgrounds.

The practice of coloring sketches has been very useful to me. I finished this one in half hour. Maybe it would take about two hours to do the clean lineart and color it with cell shading to give it an anime look.

I think I will also make a clean version of him along with Arpegius. I haven't decided yet whether to continue drawing the other band members. Maybe I will do it after practicing other characters.
