KENDRICK LAMAR'S EUPHORIA
The song is a response to Canadian rapper Drake's singles "Push Ups" and "Taylor Made."
The feud between the two rappers started over a decade ago in 2013. "Euphoria" was released on April 30th, 2024.
The song starts out "softly" with Lamar waiting until the final line of the first verse to directly address Drake. The beat then picks up as the delivery gets sharper, while the rapper makes reference to Drake's name(Draco Pistol), as well as the previous diss track "Taylor Made".
Lamar refers to Drake as "a master manipulator and a habitual liar" on the track and takes aim at his rap skills: "You not a rap artist, you a scam artist with the hopes of being accepted."
Lamar also calls out Drake's use of AI-generated Tupac vocals on "Taylor Made Freestyle."
He also seems to take a shot at Drake's relationship with his son, Adonis: "I got a son to raise, but I can see you don't know nothing about that."
"Euphoria" was met with generally positive reviews from music critics, who praised its humorous yet hateful tone, Lamar's versatile performance and complex entendres. Some criticisms were directed at the production and a few punchline. The title of "Euphoria" is perceived to be a reference to the teen drama television series "Euphoria" that Drake executive produces.
