From the Tropics to the Snow | The Sun is not Shining, but the Weather is Sweet ❄️ #APART - A Picture and A Reggae Tune

To many people further from the equator, it is a fairly normal experience to witness snow up close. But not to me of course. Well, not initially. It's still a surprise when I see it nowadays, but less so. That one day was special though, as it felt very surreal.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up that one morning and saw the world outside my apartment building completely covered in snow. Being from Suriname, a tropical country in South-America, I had only ever seen snow in media, on TV or in movies for example. It's almost like a myth, until you actually witness it.

Obviously I had to take a picture and send it to a few people, or else it didn't happen, in these times. The snow itself lasted a bit more than a day, and then it started melting again.

Sometimes we think we've already had a lot of experiences, but when you cross borders and start seeing the rest of the world in real-time, you realize how little you know about all of it, and also how much more there is to witness.

The reggae tune "Sun is Shining" felt like a funny song to add to this post. Since it is about excitement of the weather in some parts of the lyrics. But the complete opposite weather. The weather may not have been as sweet, but the feelings and the vibes definitely were.
