π΅ Hive Open Mic Week 158 - One Love People Get Ready (Cover of a Song by Bob Marley)
βΆοΈ Watch on 3Speak
To fast forward to the performance of the song skip to 0.45 in the video.
As I mentioned in the video with this week's theme - "Let's Defeat The Distance" (Derrotemos A La Distancia)" - I could only go with one artist, and that's the king of good vibes Bob Marley, and a cover of his song One Love People Get Ready.
This was actually the first time I have ever played this tune on guitar, so please forgive me if my chord skills aren't quite as polished as other open mic entries... as to my singing voice π I am trying to become more confident singing while playing guitar, but I still feel like I have a long way to go.
Lyrics included below.
One Love People Get Ready
One love! One heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.
Hear the children cryin' (One love!)
Hear the children cryin' (One heart!),
Sayin' give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right,
Sayin' let's get together and feel all right.
Let them all pass all their dirty remarks (One love!)
There is one question I'd really love to ask (One heart!)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinners,
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?
One love! What about the one heart? One heart!
What about, people? Let's get together and feel all right
As it was in the beginning (One love!)
So shall it be in the end (One heart!),
All right! Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right,
Let's get together and feel all right, one more thing!
Let's get together to fight this Holy Armagiddyon (One love!),
So when the Man comes there will be no, no doom (One song!).
Have pity on those whose chances grows t'inner;
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.
Sayin', One love! What about the one heart? (One heart!)
What about the ? Let's get together and feel all right.
I'm pleadin' to mankind! (One love!)
Oh, Lord! (One heart) Whoa!
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right,
Let's get together and feel all right.
Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right,
Let's get together and feel all right...
Let's get together and feel all right.

Hello @raj808,
You have chosen one of my favorite Bob Marley songs. I congratulate you on this participation. I find it so fantastic to have the opportunity to hear you sing and play the guitar.
Thank you @yisusth
This is also one of my favorite songs by Bob, and I'm glad you enjoyed the cover I attempted.
Thanks for your comment and encouragement π
What an interesting way to cover this famous song, I don't think I've ever heard it in that style, we loved it.
We will make you a recommendation with much love, please try to visit and support the posts of other users; also, add the source of the site where you got the lyrics of the song.
Thanks for participating in this week's Hive Open Mic.
Hi @musicandreview
No problem, done and done π I have updated the post with a link to source for the lyrics, and ever since last week when you pointed out to me to spend some time listening to other entrants and supporting them with comments I've made it my habit to comment (and upvote) five other entrants, at least. I am a super busy person and I wish I could look through more entries but I hope this will show that I genuinely am interested in other's musical expression on hive open mic π
Thanks for checking out my rendition of Bob's masterpiece. As usual, I wasn't too happy with my singing, although I thought I picked up the harmony better toward the end. As I was singing along with the final production I realized that I was hitting the notes much better because I wasn't focusing on playing the guitar as well π I guess it is just this way for some people, some are born singers and others have to train.
Anyway, thanks for your comment, recommendations and encouragement π
In the words of Dougal from Father Ted... ahh, come on now Ted ππ

Nice performance my friend, you'll only get better.... Excellent song choice also, it was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the theme
Yeah, I love a bit of Bob Marley, and I a compilation CD playing in my car today when I gave my girldfriend a lift home. I find most of Bob's music to be the perfect feel-good, sunny day music.
Yeah, I know. I used to practice 3 hours/day 5 days a week when I was a teenager, but I'm over 40 now and haven't practiced consistently for over a decade. I'm thinking of joining a local guitar jam session group, which is run by a great guitarist who helps with advice for newer guitarists.
Thanks for checking out my Cover,, and the compliment
@stefanovah
π πYou're very welcome boss..... I'd love to even be able to play at your level. Right now I can't play an instrument even to save my life π
Im surprised we haven't seen more Bob Marley songs this week, he is certainly one of the main artists that come to mind when we think about Defeating The Distance. Nice song choice, you had me singing along :).
Yeah, I agree.I can think of 5 other songs that wouold fit the theme just off the top pof my head π
Ahh, well that makes me feel good and encourages me to try and improve with the singing while playing guitar issues I have.
Thanks for checking out my Cover,, and the compliment
