💃 Fave cover songs for Three Tune Tuesday 💃
Greetings! Today I will please you with several cover versions of famous and not so famous songs. Artists of this issue: Psoy Korolenko / Silver Wedding / AGNIX. Worth your attention!
AGNIX — Совы нежные
This mysterious song about 'tender owls' has a unique story behind. From today it is no longer a secret, the investigation has been carried out and you can simply read the story behind this song here. I won't spoil it with my bad retelling, just in a nutshell: it was an experience of creating a song 'that should look like a real Russian folk song' by French artists, and performed in Russian in 2000-es. Since it was a 100% hit on the bull's eye (vibe etc.), the strings of the folks souls trembled terrifically, the song pleased hundreds of thousands of people around the world. (What a blessing that it escaped the importunate vulgar attention of showbiz!). It takes a lot of courage to make a cover version of such an epic masterpiece; in this certain case it turned out a very worthy attempt, the song gained some shamanistic motives! (And the video has a nice owl - @melinda010100, @nelinoeva, warmly welcome you to enjoy this. Sharing is caring, right?).
Psoy Korolenko is a unique phenomenon in the musical showbiz, a postmodern product of some outstanding degree, and the other day I will happily acquaint you with more his stuff. His songs are amazing, I'm ready to listen to them endlessly. They may not boast of mastery of arrangements, but as they say, "performing does matter!" plus he produces extremely interesting and vital texts. Besides that, they are very funny! This certain song is a cover version, a Russian translation of the song 'Good Old Bad Old Days' by Daniel Kahn; but there is more to it. What is this song about? nostalgia for German Democratic Republic, the country that you will not find on the map now. Its an outstanding song about the time that gone, about the breaking of epoch. You don't often see a translation so accurate or even better than the original.
Данная песня - больше чем кавер-версия, это перевод на русский язык песни 'Good Old Bad Old Days' by Daniel Kahn.
For me, this song, originally by Yegor Letov - is one of his best works 'out of time'. Moreover, numerous attempts to make cover versions of his music shamefully fail, it is by no means easy to breathe life into them, to reach his level, not to mention making it even better and more cooler (I guess this is out of the question).
"Silver Wedding" - an excellent cabaret band from Minsk, Belarus - coped well with this task, it is clear that the singer Svetlana Ben lives thru the song and feels everything that Letov sang about. In a nutshell: it is a philosophical understanding of how nasty humanity is arranged, one thousand years after another, and cannot put itself on the right foot. It's good thing that you don't know Russian and most likely you won't understand what the song is about, it may be too depressing for you. PS. I highly recommend this band "Silver Wedding", but it stopped touring since 2016.
The post goes for Three Tune Tuesday challenge run by @ablaze. Previous issues: 106 | 107 | 108 | 109
Thanks for providing us these beautiful tunes. Last one is vibe. Although I cannot understand the language
Obviously, as all three are in Russian. If you read the accompanying blog carefully (which I doubt), you would know that the second one is a cover version of the English song 'Good Old Bad Old Days' by Daniel Kahn, the lyrics can be googled out. The third song that you outlined for the vibe is hard to understand unequivocally even if you know Russian well. It is complex, artistic, figurative. Thanks for your engagement, and have a Hive !BEER from me.

My undisputed favourite: Agnix.
A beautiful interpretation.
Taking the opportunity to ask you if you know the following song and if it might have a Russian origin?
No, this doesnt ring any bell for me, in terms of melody. I would say, it has some gypsy background. 🙏
This was a very unique selection. I think the first one Agnix was the most enjoyable to listen to. Interesting that they managed to film the video so well with the owl. I don't really get much exposure to russian music except from the classics, although some of my neighbors are russian and they do sing and play songs sometimes.
That owl was very cooperative and is one of the gems of the video (but not the only). I love also the sounds of vargan (jew's harp), and all the shamanic ingredient added to music.
Maybe that may change in future months of the challenge, with a little help of me !LOLZ... well, if you follow 😂 I cant state it is smth outstanding, but there are some decent names and titles.
Sounds good, it is good to discover new sounds. I didn't pick up on the Vargan and don't think I have encountered it before, but it looks like a cool instrument.
When I think of owls, I am thinking often of Athena and the singer seems to like the eye of providence.
Thanks for tagging me, I like the first song the most, not only because of the owl - the music is captivating.
;) they added some mesmerizing vibes to it; I liked the video and how they arranged this song (but still prefer the original version). my pleasure to share beauty, always. and a !PIZZA 😋
