Doesn't Fit Into The Real Definition of Music.
There were songs you'd listen to and you will not be able to forget the lyrics because they influenced your thoughts and emotional the moment you heard them. Songs that had lessons in them, songs that were composed to give value, pass a message and also be a form of communication and interaction. There are some old love, hip-hop, blues, afro, reggae, gospel songs that had so much impact on me when I was very young, I can still sing some of these songs very well.
Honestly, there are still good and beautiful songs out there,we know some and we know the writers and singers of these songs. And there are still too many songs that the lyrics these days are just so lame, meaning of lyrics has no depth or impact to an average level. We know some of these songs and can agree that we shouldn't be categorised as music because they actually aren't music, I don't know what to call them. I mean, the lyrics these days are so annoying, foolish, really foolish and of no value. Some are even worse, repetitions of lines, others filled dirty, ungodly lyrics and yet I see people vibing to these songs. If you ask some they will tell you that they are just vibing to the beat. Yeah, beats can be tempting but c'mon how are you enjoying it with such bad lyrics.
Amapiano came around (kudos to those who invented it) it really is a good beat, you will always want to nod or move your body when you hear a good one being played. Almost all artistes jumped on it, even gospel artiste (or ministers) and it was called gospel afro beat and gospel amapiano. Many artistes released songs with the beat just because it was the latest and definitely get them more people; never bothered to think we'll about lyrics.
The first thing I would like to do or address if I were to give solutions to this issue, it will be directed to the audience of these songs. As long as there are people who listen and love these songs then there will also be people who will write, record and release such songs. Let's not forget that the musicians and artistes who do such songs do it because there are people who like and want it. Also, they follow trend, everyone wants to catch up with the recent / present. In fact, these songs and their artistes get awards, becomes a thing their fans get to brag about when the songs hits a good number on some music chart. Once the beat in such songs are removed, there is nothing to write home about again, absolutely nothing.
I'd have said the government should be able to do a thing about the music industry but nahh... No government is ready for that, it's not even among the top 50 in their list. The only way is airing out our opinion about these music but sadly, the internet is filled with lots of people who like such music.
