Hive Open Mic 🎤 week 179 || Somebody like you ~ A cover song by Princessbusayo.

Happy weekend to the community and everyone on Hive generally. It's Princessbusayo and also my pleasure to be here with my entry that is in line with the week 179 theme: Urban Music. So, I did a cover song of "Somebody Like You" by Keith Urban. Keith is an Australian country music singer and the song was his first single from his third studio album which was released in July 2002. The genre is country rock. Keith Urban's song talks about self-love. He admitted that his idea and thought about "Somebody like you" was to love himself just like other people who had loved him.

When I listened to this song for the first time on YouTube, I knew this was something I could do. I did some rehearsals on it and I am so excited to do a cover of the beautiful song. What lured me into this was how melodious the song is and Keith's smooth vocals which made me eager to bring it here, perhaps most people would want to add it to their playlist. Even though this song has been long, it is still loved and appreciated by people because of how inspiring and encouraging the words of the lyrics are.

The lyrics speak about self-doubt and insecurity which are things many of us experience in our lives, the feeling of not being good enough, sabotaging and trying to compare ourselves to other people. Listening to this song all over again reminds me that every individual has unique abilities and qualities. No matter who we are, and our flaws, there will always be somebody out there who will love us for who we are. The song is like accepting ourselves and realising that we are good on our own.

Sometimes, when we are in situations that kind of overwhelm us, it may be hard to understand why some things happen the way they do, but during the process of trying harder, we are being taught to become a better person just like what Keith said: "sometimes it's hard for me to understand, but you're teaching me to be a better man...." When we are facing some challenges, they builds us up and making us know that we can do it once we put our mind to do it.

I hope you enjoy listening to my cover and would welcome your opinions, criticism and ideas on my video as I believe learning is a continuous effort and the more we want to learn, the better it is for us to keep improving and becoming better at it.

This is nice @princessbusayo, I enjoyed watching you sing this song a lot. Your mood was just the best for this rendition and you nailed it.

Trying to compare ourselves with others is something we can't avoid doing sometimes but then we should always learn to appreciate ourselves.

I remember listening to this song in a medley and ever since then I've loved it so but listening to you sing the whole song was really interesting too 🥰.

we don't have to compare ourselves to other people, we are different from them and we possess different quality, we have to accept ourselves, love ourselves first before other can reciprocate. We are unique and we can never be like others.
