Christian Gotthilf Tag, Wo Gott der Herr nicht bei uns hält

It is one and a half years ago since I last published a composition by Christian Gotthilf Tag (see here: https://partitura.org/index.php/christian-gotthilf-tag-meinem-jesum-lass-ich-nicht/). Yet I have 5 more compositions in manuscript source than the 10 I have already published. So the next few weeks I'll publish these remaining five choral preludes as well.

I greatly like the music Tag wrote. Though I had never heard of him before I encountered his music in several manuscript sources, I think that his music deserves it to be more well known. Though his music was a bit conservative his time, it is well written music that just plainly sounds good on the organ.

The prelude to the chorale "Wo Gott der Herr nicht bei uns bleibt" is a fine example of his style. The accompanment features lots of trills, mordents and turns, the chorale melody is presented in plain long notes.

The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sample set, made by Voxus, of the Van Dam organ (1832) in Tholen (https://www.voxusorgans.com/en/product/tholen).
