Three Tune Thursday - Week 140. Legendary guitar performances from a handful of my most memorable rock songs.

I suspect that many around here might think that based on my age and my bond, relationship and connection with music, that I could probably have hundreds of memorable rock songs where were performed outstanding and legendary guitar performances. Which is true and they wouldn't be wrong.

Unless, unless we became too strict and rigorous with their assessment and we say that there have been not hundreds but thousands of rock songs performed live in concert before an audience with these rare attributes over so many decades. And of which today I have selected and brought you only a handful of them.

Yeah there could certainly be thousands of memorable songs with these formidable and remarkable characteristics. But I really didn't want to appear too esoteric by choosing little-known rock bands and guitarists to share in today's post.

Like, for example, if I had selected the band Ash Ra Tempel and its guitarist Manuel Göttsching whose live performances with inventions for electric guitarhave always seemed very attractive and memorable to me.

Or if I had also chosen the band Ozric Tentacles and their guitarist Ed Wynne whose live performances with his MIDI guitar have also been memorable for me. Yep, let's mention just those two to name merely a couple that I could very well have selected for this post.

And yeah, I know I know. But hey! have you ever heard about the Jamstick, the ACPAD and many other MIDI gadgets for guitarists? Because well, after all and with so many new talents emerging today in the art of playing the guitar with so many innovative gimmicks, ruses, stunts and whatnot. With new finger picking styles like: fingerstyle, tapstyle, slapstyle, percussivestyle and so on. For both, through acoustic guitars and also electric guitars. How could I not mention those two little-known bands too?

So nah, don't worry. For the choice of the modest handful of memorable rock songs with legendary guitar performances that I've selected for today's post. I decided to opt for the most purist side. With equally legendary rock bands and surprisingly good guitarists who might be somewhat better known by you and with more conventional and traditional styles of playing the guitar.

Prodigious guitarists which they also have been unforgettable titans of Blues and Classic Rock, which is indeed the musical genre of this style of astonishing guitar performances that I have always remembered well and enjoyed the most over the years.

So, I hope you enjoy this selection a lot buddy. And if you dare, I would also really like if you tell me which of these below you liked the most and if you have or remember one legendary guitar performance that you think should also be in this post.

«Legend I - Roy Buchanan»

«Legend II - Terry Kath»

«Legend III - Allen Collins»

«Legend IV - Jimmy Page»

«Legend V - Eddie Van Halen»

«Bonus - Stanley Jordan»

Until next week diehard music lovers!

Never seen a guy play dual lead guitars - by himself - before.

Thanks!

Yep, I also think I've never seen before to someone who plays the guitar exactly like him.

And I guess it's because Stanley has a very unique style of doing it that is quite difficult to imitate. Not only in the execution of the instrument, but for other multiple details and factors in the preparation and intonation of the guitar that he publicly has already explained many times in several interviews that have been done with him. I think this video below describes and explains it quite well. :)

And by the way, by your comment should I deduced that this was the legendary guitar performance you liked the most? Or just the one that caught your attention the most?

I was previously unfamiliar with Stanley or Buchanan, and quite enjoyed being introduced to them. However, Eddie Van Halen changed my life and world at a very formative age, and his superlative solo leaves me again grateful to have enjoyed his work, and lamenting there will be no more of it more keenly than I can describe.
