RE: "Three Tune Thursday - Week 149" Birtha & Fanny, the first early all-girls groovy rock bands I liked.

It happens too often that a music genre/style is getting too commercial.

That's true. As soon as record labels and talent scouts stumbled upon the possibility of making tons of money with very good profits from a good artist with the potential to become a star. They never spared any effort in prostituting the artist as much as they could and turning everything they produced into an artificial commercial success. Too often, in this way murdering the true original soul and spirit of the music that emanated from these talents in the process.

But I suppose this all has to do with scaling.

Of course. And all that only has to do with making money and not necessarily with making good music with true soul and spirit. The record labels managed to convince many talents that this was a win-win relationship. And that scaling and making their musical creations a commercial hit was the only way to achieve success and crown their artistic aspirations. Even if this was to the detriment of the authentic original spirit of their music.

More audience means easier and less 'extreme' sounds to attract the masses.

Exactly. And that was exactly how reggaeton was born. And nowadays it is taking over the world. };)

Fortunately, all those unhealthy maneuvers by record labels to prostitute music and turn it into their exclusive goose that lays golden eggs, only lasted until a couple of decades ago. And with the appearance of the internet and the emergence of new means and platforms to distribute and disseminate music, I think that little by little we are recovering much of that original soul and spirit that used to be present in the music of yesteryear. Although for the moment, we still will have to venture through the underground world to come across with such musical gems truly overflowing with the true soul, spirit and authenticity we crave. :)

How is you these days?

I'm well brother. At least with good health and a fine sense of humor, which is what really matters.

Still fighting the status quo here at HIVE?

Yep, still fighting with the brainless. And after more than two years fighting with them to implant them a new brain and having confirmed that they are incurable because they do not have space in their pinheads to place it. I've had no choice but to bring them to the surface and expose them to everyone sight every time they attack me to see if some pious soul finally helps them to rest in peace by giving them the last rites.

And perhaps outside of HIVE as well?

Always! outside of HIVE always. At my age, it's always too much fun to show people what they've never seen and teach them what they've never known.
