Long ago, a mighty dragon called Ouroboros led his people against the rest of the world. He believed that dragons were the mightiest force in the world and sought to consolidate their power so that they would be undefeatable. The dragons amassed wealth and power, such was their hubris that the gods grew spiteful of them. Or, perhaps it was fear that their children would grow too powerful. Regardless, the gods struck the dragons down, cursing them with the Golden Delirium. A disease that drives dragons to madness when they amass wealth.

For Ouroboros, they crafted a special curse, one that would punish Ouroboros for all of eternity. It is unknown what the original terms of the curse were, if they have changed over time, or if the gods simply thought Ouroboros would be unable to achieve his goals.

The curse as we know it today is thus: Ouroboros will appear once every 1000 years, to try and consume the world he sought to control. He has a set amount of time to do so, although we do not know what it is and should he not complete his task before his time is up, he will be consumed by his brothers and sisters, the dragons, who have lost their minds to the Golden Delirium. If, for some reason, his kin cannot consume him, then he will be forced to consume himself. Most would say that either result is a cruel and ruthless one.

This next part is uncertain, for it is unknown if the gods intended the curse as such, or if Ouroboros simply found a way to make it so. If Ouroboros wishes for aid on his quest, he may bestow his curse upon mortals at any time, which appears as a Seal of Ouroboros on his victim. In order to bestow his mark, he must consume a small piece of himself, in this way, he must suffer un-healing wounds and writhe in agony for each additional mortal he accrues.

We have yet to see Ouroboros succeed, but the chaos he sows when he walks the earth is immeasurable. Now we approach the anniversary of his appearance and the races prepare for the fight they know will arrive. Some will try to destroy him before he can wreak havoc upon us, other still may seek to serve him, taking the Seal in exchange for power. Troubled times are ahead.
