How outsiders and the external world see Hive summarized in just one musical videoclip.
Honestly, every time I check the Hive trending page. Which by the way, it is the one that all potential investors, dApp developers and people in general who do not belong to or have an account on Hive see. The truth is that I can't help but think about why many things don't work or shouldn't work the way they are working and why many people here wonder and complain that it's not working the way they expect it should work.
But recently I rewatched a music video that I hadn't seen for a good while. And suddenly most of my doubts were cleared up. And it's the only music video that I'm gonna share with you in this post. And I bet it answers the question in the title of this article wonderfully well. So, let's see if you think and see the same. ¡I'm all ears!
But yeah, perhaps the insiders see Hive in other way. Like some sort of their personal immutable Shambhala and that's why they are incapable to perceive and detect what is shown in the video and what everyone else outside Hive actually sees, perceives and detects in its stellar page. By which I guess, it just must be a simple matter of musical appreciation. Because I believe it can't be explained any other way!
So if you've made it this far, reading everything there is to read, clicking where you need to click, and you've already watched the video from start to finish? Then, my dear friend, all that's left for you to do is meditate. Oh yeah, let's all go to meditate!
In meditation mode, kinda .. Read, Clicked and Watched them all 🎶🥳
The video about Shambhala: I thought, "What? Why is someone making such a video and posting it?" But I liked the watch. I just hope Canada and its enforcement troops are open-minded enough not to act difficult to the organisers for years to come. How nice will it be to be part of this crowd? Perhaps most of Hiveans went there for the last 25 years? Learned how to create our world, in a bubble? Nah... most (important) Hiveans probably SHOULD attend such a festival. I will vote for a DHF proposal to sponsor such an adventure for a list of people 😆
Trending channel: We need tipp-ex. And much of it. I never understood why we have Trending channel based on monetary value. And I even understand less why it is the default channel for most of the HIVE frontends. Every Hivean should be able to create his/her filtering based on all content onchain. But no, all those who operate an HIVE frontend seem to think that having a Trending channel as the default one, is the way to go. They could also decide to give all sorts of algorithms to the user base so they can select the one they like to use. Most people are so not in touch with creativity and change to whatever they see around themselves.
Meditation continued.. NJOY the new week 🎶
Isn't meditation mode gratifying sometimes? :D
Yes, they SHOULD! :D
Yeah, I would also vote for that DHF proposal if it ever existed. Because although those (important) Hiveans have their own festival annually. It's always the same specimens drinking their own Kool Aid amongst themselves within their pack only.
It actually would be really interesting to observe the behavior of these (important) Hiveans sharing this type of festivals & adventures but mingling in the midst of other tribes, other cultures, other mentalities, other ways of thinking, other kind of Kool Aid and other psychotomimetic experiences. Isn't it? ;o)
Yep, everything you mention in relation to the trending channel is valid and in need of reform. But unfortunately the biggest problem is not what its user base can or cannot do today. The biggest and greatest problem is what those outside the user base cannot and will not be able to do unless something changes.
Since all those outsiders who today stumble upon Hive eventually or accidentally, whether it be new potential investors, new developers of tools or dApps or simple users, what they are going to encounter is that unattractive selection of bland content in the Trending channel without being able to modify or select it as they like. Which will make them walk away immediately and never return. Which will obviously affect the growth and evolution of Hive and its user base. And will inevitably contribute to its stagnation and ostracism unless something changes asap.
Yeah, you too bro. :)
You are correct in all aspects.
Quick fix: throw away Trending and Hot channels in all HIVE UIs.
Make the NEW channel the default channel that is opened when coming to any of the HIVE frontends.
Next to a quick fix, better algo's to determine what content deserves a spotlight. Not the flat ones just looking at rewards. Those that have many rewards, may not deserve a spotlight at all since they already have a lot of rewards. But such thoughts may not resonate in many peeps minds, perhaps because they can't see the differences between what HIVE is and the the average social media service is. Or the not thinking at all. Or they don't want to go against an (invisible) force. Am just amazed that we didn't change anything last few years, to try, to test, to see if we can make things better.
