Common Traits: «A handful of true Xmas tunes for the common people»

¿Are You Common People?

«YESTERDAY»

«TODAY»

«THE REST OF THE YEAR»

I think it's out of habit or tradition, but I think that the vast majority of people around the world tend to associate songs like: Jingle Bells, Silent Night, White Christmas, Feliz Navidad, The Little Drummer Boy, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and many others exclusively of this style like the only classic Christmas songs.

Although if for seeing we go to see and we want to be more precise, we would actually have to say that there are currently thousands, if not tens of thousands, of other very popular songs that could also fall into that category of Christmas classics.

Nonetheless and to be a bit more in tune with the images and the general feeling conveyed by the images with which I began this post. Today I have selected and decided to share with you a handful of songs that I fancied like more appropriate as Christmas Carols and authentic Christmas Hymns for these days that are running.

Who knows? Perhaps you might find my musical selection a bit too eclectic for your traditional Xmas taste. But at my age I can assure you that these songs are more than appropriate for me and will most likely remain so for today, the rest of the year and all the years still to come...

In the same way and just as the images above may suggest regarding with what we feed us, how we feed us and how we preserve of what we feed us at Christmas. I think that these five songs that I have selected for you today are very relevant and express and transmit my feelings today quite well. And it may be true that some of these songs may seem a bit sad to you. But nah, don't be fooled. They are all cheerful and optimistic, although also a little more realistic. And that's how I want to give you a glimpse of that with the bonus track below with its happier behind the scenes.

¡Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

A bit too Eclectic? Noooo, not at all. And most of your picks I really really loved to hear again.
Diana Ross / Patti Labelle, a beauty. Ray Charles, a classic. Gigi, darn, sounds GOOD! Didn't know this one. For sure more (female) singers around who can play with the dynamics in their voices a lot! Not so sure about Ed Sheeran though. But ok, he is better than Jingle Bells for the million time 😆

...may be true that some of these songs may seem a bit sad to you.

Yes, you are right, some songs may sound negative, sad if you will. Well, not so positive. But my experience is that sad music can in fact bring us in a good mood. Will, it can do this for me. When I honestly like a song, a track, and I take the time to deeply listen, I become one with the music, happiness comes to me and takes away any defence I may have to fight this emotion. But I think you know this 😉

NJOY the remainder of the year and wish you a great 2025.
