A handful of vernacular #ttts for the current world.

In a current world in which since the beginning of this year I have been noticing so much insensitivity, so much indolence, so much falsehood, hypocrisy, sycophancy and ass-kissingness to the elite. I don't know why, but for some reason a beautiful, famous and very popular Venezuelan folklore tune has been installed in my mind for several days lately.

It was installed in my mind suddenly and surreptitiously without thinking about it. Really without realizing it. Like some sort of traveling peregrine earworm that has been stalking me in my dreams when I presented less resistance to its attack. And here it is that even to this day, it still persists in whispering its beautiful melody to my ears. And for the same reason I have decided to infect you today with its mermaid's chant.

I had planned to infect you yesterday. Which coincided with the fact that it was a Tuesday in the week 139 of Three Tune Tuesday. But due to various extracurricular activities I had to do outdoors and to some unforeseen adverse events that occurred overnight, I couldn't do it yesterday. ¡But what the heck! To infect you with good music any day is good.

«VERNACULAR»

«MARGARITA»

«POLO MARGARITEÑO»

As I said before, this beautiful song that I bring you today is a classic of Venezuelan folklore. Whose original author of its lyric and music is not officially known. Since it is believed and said that its origin dates back to the time of the Spanish conquest, who brought with them certain Renaissance melodies that after several modifications, transformations and mutations in their execution gave birth to the Polo Margariteño as it is known today.

On the other hand, it is also known that when we refer to Polo Margariteño, many people believe that we are referring to a Venezuelan folkloric musical style or genre. Which, although it is also true, I also want to clarify that when we say "Polo Margariteño" we are also referring to the title and name of a song. Specifically the song that I am going to share with you here today.

And which has been object of so many modifications and transformations by its interpreters and singers. Those who have added additional verses to its original lyric or have actually included their own lyrics replacing the original completely. That it is why people now believe that the Polo Margariteño is only a genre and musical style.

To the extent that many performers and singers have renamed this old song with the name: "The Singing Makes Sense" by which it is known worldwide. Although its original name is and for me will remains simply being Polo Margariteño.

Official Lyric:

The singing makes sense,
understanding and reason. (bis)

The good pronunciation
It is an instrument to the ear. (bis)

Look at that lily
that time consumes it. (bis)

And there is a fountain
which makes it flourish.
You are the lily,
Oh! give me your perfume,
that I am the source,
let me run.

The imprisoned heron
it doesn't sing like he used to sing,
in the space
and in the sleeping sea. (bis)

Her chant between chains,
it is a song of agony.
Why do you insist then, Lord,
in prolonging her chant? (bis)

What am I doing alone in the field?
What am I doing in the field alone?
I don't fall in love nor sing.
I don't sing nor fall in love.

The breeze sighs,
sighing far away.
And she opens the cocoon
of a white rose. (bis)

The worm comes out
from his silk prison,
and he becomes
in cute butterfly. (bis)

Singing makes sense,
understanding and reason. (bis)

Although it might seem like a very naive, simple, elementary and uncomplicated lyric. For me it conveys a strong message with a very deep and elevated philosophical meaning for today's world. And that's why it seems to me that this earworm that I have implanted in my head for several days now, is worth of contagion to everyone who listens to it carefully. Be daring, listen to it and I hope you enjoy it!
