Music's Essence and the Artist

For many, music is a comforting companion as they drift off to sleep, but for me, the opposite is the case. I can't sleep with music on, whether it's classical or blues; I find myself thinking about the lyrics of the song or processing many other things that keep my brain busy. This doesn’t mean that I don’t like music, but that I love the words and the instrumentals that make it up, and not just the sound. However, the case is different when it comes to audiobooks, like podcasts. I normally find myself processing words at the beginning and then slowly drifting off to sleep. This happens most when the podcast is boring or the voice is too calm. Whatever the reason, I just know that I like it, especially when I want to force myself to sleep.

Music, to me, is like food, medicine, and a friend. I don’t really care about the artist (whether he or she is a good person or not). When I like an artist's voice, vibes, and lyrics, there’s nothing that can stop me from listening to them.

Recently, a lot has been going on in the music industry—scandals and all of that. The most recent and annoying one is that of a popular Nigerian songwriter and singer, Burna Boy. I find it very annoying because maybe I’m a feminist and I don’t like it when men take advantage of women, no matter how good the reason might be. He is one of my favorites, and he has done something bad without remorse, but that can’t stop me from listening to his songs. I’ve seen many people hate on artists, and I don’t know how they do that because I’ve never felt a strong hatred towards any of them. Sometimes I do believe most of the things we see on the internet are for clout, and they might also have their reasons for publicizing certain things. What we see on the internet might be true, and there’s also a possibility that it might be false, so I can’t hate on someone when I don’t even know the person or be certain that they have truly committed the crime.
Literally, none of this truly concerns me, except that I get seriously stressed when I read many negative content and comments on controversial topics. So, as much as I don’t care about the artist’s lifestyle, I try as much as possible to stay away from the negative chaos that trends with the artist and boosts up the industry. I don’t know if loving the songs that resonate with me, despite who the artist is or what the artist is doing, is proper, but that’s just me. I listen to music not because of the artist but because of how I feel about what I’m listening to.

You can have fun with the most popular ones here😊.

Recently, I’ve been enjoying more Amapiano. I can only attribute it to the fact that I've been attending birthday gatherings, friends’ outings, and others. Also, I’m getting some of the things I wished for, so I’m excited most of the time. There’s something about Amapiano that even if you don’t understand the lyrics, the instrumentals got you covered. The piano melodies, the jazz, and other uplifting sounds are irresistible, especially if you love music and dance. Most of the time, I don’t know the artist behind it, and this is not unusual when it comes to amapiano; most people don’t know where a particular mix comes from. We only know that it’s soulful, exciting, and infectious.

Amapiano originated in South Africa, and it’s been the life of the party lately.

I find it hard to sleep with music on unless I know the words and the artist very well ... I too am up trying to figure things out ... something I have learned is that people who practice evil eventually cannot stop it from leaking over into their music, and as long as they get attention they will continue down that road because they do not see their consequences until it gets very bad. So, if I am trying to rest, I have to really know what is being said and who is singing it. The same goes for most lectures, although some voices and styles of presentation do tend to make me sleepy.

I totally understand 💯
Most of the artists have chosen to trend using whatever way they can, and netizens loves negative contents. They publicize evil and lies more than any other thing.
The industry is a game of who is who, lol.

I chose not to focus on that anyway, like you said the wordings of the song matters a lot. It is what enables some of us to rest well when our mind is in chaos.

Greetings! Dear Deeanndmathews🤍🤗
