RE: A weekend festival of drumming in Liverpool

Now I understand why you skipped HiveFest this year... π
I had no idea that something like a Drum show even exists, and that it lasts 2 days when you have it all... The exhibition, the live show, networking, and even some "masterclasses" included...
Btw, that video that you shared is incredible! How can that guy play drums for 40+ minutes, that intensively?! It's like playing an instrument, while juggling, and doing a gym in the same time... lol...
Fortunately people were only allowed to play the drums for 15 minutes of every hour.
Before I saw this, I was wondering how people talked there at all... Plus, earplugs are probably a must, especially for those who are playing (like the guy in the video) π
Btw. do drummers use earplugs while they are playing?

It actually reminded me of Hivefest a bit as you are with people who share an interest and there is so much to absorb.
These days most professionals use in-ear monitors that block a lot of outside noise so they can hear the band. Previously drummers would have a big speaker behind them and many will have hearing damage.
I think playing a full rock show must be like running a marathon. They need to be really fit. The stuff I play is gentler and the volume levels are lower.
I got the same feeling when I read your post... I mean, you redirected the energy very well...π
