▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Greeting Hive and 3Speak!

I'm not exactly new to this space, but this will be my first upload of me singing and playing.

I plan on posting a series of videos that I made while trying out different setups for recording audio and video in my office space.

This video and audio was recorded with an old LG phone and an even older Sony Cybershot camera. Blending audio from the two yielded acceptable, but obviously not perfect results. I enjoy the fades from one camera angle to another, but I really need to find someone to run a camera for me at some point.

I like this recording this way because it is quick and easy for me to set this up and start recording. Editing is also quite a bit quicker and easier than when I record separate instrument and vocal tracks.

It isn't great, but it will do. I hope you all enjoy it, because I have several more videos like this (bad recordings of old songs you forgot) to release over the next several weeks.

Follow me or mute me, either way I'll know you watched ;)

I had no idea! No, not that, I totally pictured a Duck Dynasty cast member the whole time. I had no idea you need a camera guy.

= }

Whaddup. Big huge ones.. Never could stand hearing my own voice in a speaker. Applause, dude.

Instruments, with an s? What are you using now for video edits? <- I swear autocorrect had idea edits.

Need might be a strong word, but I certainly recognize that my videos would benefit from a camera operator. If you think I look Duck Dynasty here, wait 'til you see one without the beard braids.

It took me a while to get used to hearing my own voice. It actually changed how I sing. Now, I've been doing home recordings for so long, it's all old hat. I don't even really hear my voice, just the room reverb, and the bad spots in the EQ...

I've used OpenShot as an editor for years, though right now I'm trying out something a bit more lightweight called Flowblade. I could do more stuff like this if the editing software was workable on ALL of my computers, not just the fancy 4 core that I record with.

I used to be real good with Cakewalk. Most everyone uses Pro Tools anymore. Tried that one? What about iMovie for video? It's nice. And easy to work with.

I used Cakewalk WAYYYYY back in the 90's, when I first dabbled in home recording. I haven't had a chance to try Pro Tools for myself, though anytime I've worked with anyone else's setup, that's what they were running. For my audio only projects, I do almost everything in Audacity, which is free and extremely simple. If I'm trying to record a whole band with some MIDI instruments, I'll use Ardour, which is kinda like a free software version of ProTools.

I've never tried any i-software for audio or video. Apple products tend to be outside of both my price range and pirating abilities.

Fair enough. Yeah, 90's, back before YouTube had commercials.

I'm no help with audio, been outta practice way too long but if you need help with video, shoot me a line, maybe I could give you an angle.

I may take you up on that.

How would you feel about collaborating on some comedy writing? I've been putting together a couple 3-5 minute sets that I want to do videos of for the ComedyOpenMic Community, and I could definitely use a hand (and another set of eyeballs) writing and editing that material, if I want to get the videos done before 2030.

Any interest in that?

More than THIS.

COM? You must be the only one still representing.

You got WhatsApp?

I do have WhatsApp. I even learned how to use it a little bit, a little while ago.

I had been thinking Discord, but I'm happy to go with whatever works best for you.

Kingsleyy and Blanchy are still dropping posts in COM now and again. I'm hoping a couple good videos (and I want to bring OCD curation back) will help breathe some new life back into the place.

Got a clever way to exchange numbers anonymously? I've been thinking for a minute now, something I try not to exceed 20 seconds, never came to me.

Is Amir even around anymore? That channel went silent on discord. Whatever your rationale, I'm down like four flat tires.

You ever catch any of that show I keep telling you to watch?

I do. Drop an email, and I'll email you my #, or email your number (with something not too spammy looking for a subject) to [email protected]

Of course, once you email me from your email, I'll probably just send you a document of what I have so far.

Not sure if Amir is around Hive still, he definitely hasn't been in COM. I suppose I should reach out to him at some point, and learn what I can learn about that.

I haven't seen that show yet, and I've forgotten what it's called, but if you remind me what the name is, I'm actually looking for something new to watch tonight when I get done running around, and comedy would be perfect.

LOL. Finally watched some Kill Tony, and it's probably the only thing I'll watch now. It did get me distracted from the business at hand, so I'll get around to replying to your email some time later today.
