An elaborated posts with so many intertwined thoughts. Congratulations!
I am sad to hear that you are so often affected by COVID.
Spontaneously, I would advise you to get a Vitamin D test.
Black people are more often affected by it and a deficiency weakens the immune system.
Without insurance, I've heard you can get one done for as little as $40/50 with a finger prick and shipping to the lab.
All the best!

I have recently had a comprehensive blood test -- Vitamin D was good, but it can probably be better and I appreciate the reminder!
It wasn't so much COVID ... iron deficiency was slowly undermining me. I bounced back from Covid by September, to the point that I did not even realize the anemia was so severe by December.
Now, of course, it is important to find the cause of the iron deficiency, as you surely know.
Kind regards!
That was found ... was eating just below enough iron for a LONG, LONG time ... working on losing weight through a healthy diet, but the iron was not enough to deal with all that was going on in 2024 with me climbing the local hills, exercising with my mom, and then bouncing back from Covid. I do eat a lot of iron-rich foods, but the portion size for them was not enough, so, the anemia crept up slowly. I have re-tooled my diet ... so far, so good!
I did some research. Animal iron is easier for the body to utilize. Pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, and sesame seeds have a high iron content. Simultaneous consumption of foods rich in vitamin C (e.g., bell peppers, citrus fruits, sea buckthorn, broccoli) greatly improves iron absorption.
Forgot about the pumpkin seeds, which I do like, and at last it is bell pepper season -- THANKS!
