The Sound of Silence...
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, “The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence”
Surely this is the song that has always moved me the most; I love it in all its versions and, of course, my favorite is the original one.
But today, I decided to write about the Disturbed version, this is by far the version we hear the most with my wife, she loves it! Precisely for this reason at Christmas last year I gave her the vinyl record of the album that contains it... obviously I also gave her a fantastic record player on the same occasion eh eh!
I knew this song in a particular way; as a child, or as I wrote, I attended the Scouts many times (I actually attended them also as a teenager and as an adult and in any case... semel Scout, always Scout!) and exactly at my beginnings, at the age of seven, on the notes of this song I listened a "Our Father", the version of this prayer sung to the tune of "The Sound of Silence" is very well known among scouts... I was truly bewitched by it (and it's not like I've ever been a shin of a saint, add that the more time passes the worse my relationship with religion 😱).
This one I've just put on is very similar to how we sang it, I really like it and I assure you that singing it around the fire is really something suggestive... it's one of the few things that manages to bring me closer to religion and, Ti I assure you, it is a very difficult undertaking to do so.
Growing up, of course, I went looking for the original version and I was just as enchanted by it!
In my opinion, the text of "The sound of silence" is to be considered poetry for its timeless images and its ability to evoke and suggest through the use of metaphors and allegories.
To tell us "the sound of silence" is in fact a play of light and shadow, but also an off-screen voice - almost biblical (probably for this reason the text of a prayer adapts very well to this music) - which dictates and prophesies the destiny of a humanity unable to communicate. An image that after 50 years proves to be truly prophetic, where the "Neon God" is the emblem of the smartphone we hold in our hands, which shields us from life and acts as a shield in our communication with others.
The moment I prefer to listen to this song is at night, maybe when I'm alone in my studio and I'm reflecting on something, I listen to it and I manage to be serene, in balance, I live it almost like the mantra of a meditation in fact, often, the I listen over and over; I like to listen to it at the right volume, not too high or too low to favor the flow of my thoughts while the words of the text flow.
In addition to calming me down, "The Sound of Silence" also has the power to relax me, given all these effects it has on my person, I can't help but define it as "healing".
Why it has this effect on me I really can't explain, it's probably something due to the faith I've lost and which maybe comes back when I listen to it, or it's the notes that vibrate at a frequency that enters my brain bringing me into that state of "almost Nirvana".
One thing that I think is very important and that makes me love this song is that I love silence and its sound, the deafening noise it can make and I often take moments of absolute silence sitting at my desk staring out the window at the landscape , lost in the void... it's something I love to do, I can give birth to the best ideas this way!
Before saying goodbye, I want you to listen to another version that I adore or, better to say, that we adore, since even Reny is crazy about it; I'll confide in you, for my wife the most beautiful version is that of Disturbed, I adore her and I adore that group but for me it's almost like blaspheming because I believe that no version will ever be able to equal the original.
This one that follows is sung by Pentatonix and like the others it's really very beautiful.
I think that's all for this weekend; Do you have a favorite song? What is the effect of listening to it? Let me know your thoughts by writing below.
I hug you!

A great song, and a few good versions of it. Nice work!
Thanks!
Pentatonix version just gave me goosebumps. In fact, listening to songs about religion makes my faith come back and grow stronger. You are very right, listening to this kind of song always feels like a mantra. very soothing to my ears and keeps me calm.
If you would like, I could also recommend some songs by Hillsong like Oceans, Amazing Grace, and so on.
Of course I want to, later I'll calmly go and listen to them all.
If you have others to recommend go ahead, I'm all ears!!!
Thanks for the comment and for stopping by!🤗
A version of Simon & Garfunkel that I had already heard here before. From the movie The Sounds of Silence, good version of Disturbed, I really like that song. Wow, the a cappella version of Pentatonix left me crazy, wonderful!
Sono felice che Ti piacciano!🤗
I think I need to start listening to this song more : ) I rarely hear it on the radio while driving. I need to Google the lyrics, too; I didn't realize all the meaning to it.
I really recommend it to you, and it's really beautiful!
I also love the original of this song, I don't know these other versions. I look forward to hearing them. Thanks @p1k4ppa10 xxx
They are really nice versions!
Obviously the most beautiful is always the original for me heh heh!
Thanks for stopping by and for the support 🤗
