My Encounter With A Pro-musician
My Encounter With A Pro-musician
Today I will be sharing with you all about a contest I once partook in some time ago. First and foremost I want to confess I am really not a fan of competitions I always run away from events that has to do with contest that at the end results will be called out; maybe it’s because of the fear of not doing well and obtaining an unpleasant result at the end of the contest.
The truth is that I hate to see me fail while others make it to the top, I don’t like situations that I will have to feel bad after engaging in a contest. The fear of losing doesn’t allow me to engage in such activities but I am gradually getting over that.
I have experiences where I didn’t do well during a contest that left me a bitter but better experience. I am a musician and I play the trumpet much more than any other instrument I know how to play. We had a contest that I never wanted to participate but my friend lure me into registering for the contest and then participating. I have my principles and one of them is not to claim what I am not and even if I can do something very well I don’t say it out loudly, I prefer to do it while people see it and rate it the way they want to.
There was a little boy in our midst among the participants during the contest day, I call him small but mighty because his performance amazed even we the participants talk more of the judges. My principle of humbleness helped me because I associated with the boy even before time for our presentations, he is my junior both in age and level. I was in my year three while the boy was in year two. The boy started engaging me first into conversation and I responded with as good energy, I didn’t try to belittle the gentle man and that made me more comfortable during the boys presentation.

While other contestants were wondering how a small boy will win the award price for the best contestant position, I was happy and cheering him more when he was on stage as if I knew him before. I was comfortable doing that because we had a good and friendly conversation before he went up stage. At the end of the program he was awarded the winner because he actually deserves it, I congratulated him and collected his phone number and till date we do talk and share ideas regarding music and entertainment generally.
Moral Lessons
If you read through my post you will realize I embraced the spirit of humility and it helped me very well during the cause of the competition, I didn’t take first position but I made friend with the winner because I welcomed his conversation and was friendly with him.
Another great thing is my zeal to learn more. I collected his number purposely to learn from him and improve my own talent and skills, this is the more reason I want to keep on participating in contests like this because it will not only help me build confidence on stage but it will help me pick challenge to develop myself and be a better player and I will also get to learn from people that are more skilled than me. It was indeed an awesome experience and I hope you learnt something from my story. Thank you for staying tune.
Humility Pays!!
