Women in percussion! My experience with Ensamble Venus [ENG/ESP]

What's up everyone! I hope you are healthy and happy ✨. Today I want to tell you a little about my experience as a guest drummer for Ensamble Venus, the first all-female percussion ensemble in the National System of Orchestras and Youth Choirs of Venezuela.

The opportunity to play with this ensemble came via Instagram 📩 , through a DM one of the directors of the ensemble, Naybeth Mora, contacted me to let me know about the project and extend me the invitation to play drums in the closing song of the concert, an offer that I gladly accepted.

It's been more than 10 years without playing with a classical percussion ensemble, so it was exciting for me to be part of a format like this again. Although the rehearsals were few, they took place in a very supportive and collaborative environment, which made me feel immediately part of something special.

The day of the concert we went on stage together, ready to give our best. The energy was great and when the song ended the audience erupted in applause until we were dismissed with a standing ovation. It was an experience I will never forget, and I'm excited to see what other opportunities like this the future holds.

¡Un saludo a todos! Espero se encuentren sanos y contentos ✨. Hoy quiero contarles un poco sobre lo que fue mi experiencia como baterista invitada para el Ensamble Venus, el primer ensamble de percusión conformado únicamente por mujeres dentro de El Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles de Venezuela.

La oportunidad de tocar junto a este ensamble llegó vía Instagram 📩 , a través de un mensaje directo una las directoras del ensamble, Naybeth Mora, me contactó para hacerme saber del proyecto y extenderme la invitación a tocar la batería en la canción de cierre del concierto, oferta que con todo gusto acepté.

Tenía más de 10 años sin tocar con un ensamble de percusión clásica, así que para mí fue emocionante volver a formar parte de una formato como este. Aunque los ensayos fueron pocos estos se dieron en un ambiente de apoyo y colaboración muy lindo, que me hizo sentir inmediatamente parte de algo especial.

El día del concierto nos subimos al escenario juntas, listas para dar lo mejor de nosotras. La energía fue genial y cuando la canción terminó el público estalló en aplausos hasta despedirnos con una ovación de pie. Fue una experiencia que nunca olvidaré, y estoy emocionada por ver qué otras oportunidades como esta me depara el futuro.
