My first gig with Meganova band!

Last Saturday October 21st was the debut concert of Meganova, my girl rock band, we were playing in the event 'Zona Nuevas Bandas', as opening act for Nomasté.

The concert took place in Sabroso, a restaurant located under the Quinta Bar, a well known nightclub in Caracas located in Las Mercedes. We had a space of 25 minutes for our presentation, so we played 5 songs, 3 covers along with 2 original songs of the band, the covers were:

• 'What's Up' by 4 Blondes
• 'Zombie' by The Cramberries
• 'Highway to hell' by AC/DC

The presentation was short but we had a great time, there was a lot of reception from the audience, they sang with us, during the ballads they lit up with their cell phones, they applauded us a lot and we received very nice comments about our show. Many friends and people from the music scene came to support us, the tables were full and it was great to see old friends we hadn't seen for a long time.

Another great part was that this show with Meganova allowed me to re-connect with Nomasté, a fusion band also formed by women, of which I was a member during 2018, with whom I recorded a couple of songs for their album and had the pleasure of playing at the Concha Acústica de Bello Monte, as opening act for Desorden Público.

My experiences with Nomasté were beautiful and I had a long time without seeing them, it was really a pleasure to meet again with the girls of Nomasté and share the stage again.

There was a very special moment during Nomasté's presentation when Maru, the saxophonist, moved me very much saying: 'let's give it up for Oriana who is here in the audience, she was our drummer a few years ago, she really plays great, let's give it up for a world with more women drummers' and we all applauded. I really didn't expect that public recognition, but to tell you the truth, it felt nice to have my work recognized, it was a very special moment.

The night was full of music and laughter, I had a super fun time, but most importantly I was happy to continue doing what I love: music.

El pasado sábado 21 de Octubre fue el concierto debut de Meganova, mi banda de rock de chicas, estuvimos tocando en el evento ‘Zona Nuevas Bandas’, como teloneras de Nomasté.

El concierto tuvo lugar en Sabroso, un restaurant que queda debajo de la Quinta Bar, una conocida discoteca de Caracas ubicada en las Mercedes. Tuvimos un espacio de 25 minutos para nuestra presentación, por lo que tocamos 5 temas, 3 covers junto a 2 temas originales de la banda, los covers fueron:

• ‘What’s Up’ de 4 Blondes
• ‘Zombie’ de The Cramberries
• ‘Highway to hell’ de AC/DC

La presentación fue corta pero la pasamos súper bien, hubo mucha receptividad del público, cantaron con nosotras, en las baladas alumbraron con sus celulares, nos aplaudieron mucho y recibimos comentarios muy bonitos sobre nuestro show. Fueron muchos amigos y personas del medio musical a apoyarnos, las mesas se llenaron y fue genial ver a viejos amigos que tenía mucho tiempo sin ver.

Otra parte genial fue que este show con Meganova me permitió re-conectar con Nomasté, una banda de fusión también conformada por mujeres, de la cual fui miembro durante el año 2018, con quienes grabé par de temas para su disco y tuve el placer de tocar en la Concha Acústica de Bello Monte, como teloneras de Desorden Público.

Mis experiencias con Nomasté fueron bonitas y tenía mucho tiempo sin verlas, de verdad fue todo un gusto volver a encontrarme con las chicas de Nomasté y compartir tarima de nuevo.

Hubo un momento super bonito durante la presentación de Nomasté donde Maru, la saxofonista, me conmovió muchísimo diciendo: ‘un aplauso para Oriana que esta aquí en el público, ella fue nuestra baterista hace unos años, de verdad que lo hace brutal, un aplauso por un mundo con más mujeres bateristas!’ y todos aplaudimos. La verdad no me esperaba ese reconocimiento público, pero para que mentirles, se sintió bonito que reconocieran mi trabajo, fue un momento muy especial.

La noche estuvo llena de música y risas, pase un rato super divertido, pero lo más importante es que me sentí contenta de seguir haciendo lo que amo: música.
