On this day in 1824, the “Ode to Joy” was born when Ludwig van Beethoven (born December 16, 1770) premiered it in Vienna.
Although it is known as the Ode to Joy, this section corresponds to the fourth movement of the Ninth Symphony.

Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, known as the Chorale, is a choral symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven between 1822 and 1824. It is the ninth and last of his nine symphonies. It premiered in Vienna on May 7, 1824. Many critics and musicologists consider it a masterpiece of Western classical music and one of the crowning achievements in the entire history of music. It's one of the best-known works of common practice music and one of the most performed symphonies in the world.
I love this piece because, in addition to its extreme beauty and emotion, it's also featured in the soundtrack of one of my favorite anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Un día como hoy, pero de 1824, nació el “Himno a la Alegría”, cuando Ludwig van Beethoven (nacido el 16 de diciembre de 1770) la estrenó en Viena.
Si bien se conoce como Himno de la Alegría, esta parte corresponde al cuarto movimiento de la Novena Sinfonía.

La Sinfonía n.º 9 en re menor, op. 125, conocida como Coral, es una sinfonía coral compuesta por Ludwig van Beethoven entre 1822 y 1824. Es la novena y última completa de sus nueve sinfonías. Se estrenó en Viena el 7 de mayo de 1824. Muchos críticos y musicólogos la consideran como una obra maestra de la música clásica occidental y uno de los logros supremos de toda la historia de la música. Es una de las obras más conocidas de la música de práctica común
y una de las sinfonías más interpretadas del mundo.
A mí me encanta esta pieza, porque además de su extrema belleza y emoción, también forma parte de la banda sonora de unos de mis animes favoritos: Neon Genesis Evangelion
