Good day beloved, and welcome to my blog. My name is @oluthomas.
For Hive OpenMic Week 266, I will be singing a cover by Pastor Paul Enenche titled "With You Lord."
In line with this week’s theme, “My Gift to Mom,” I’ll like to begin by paying tribute to those whose mothers are no longer with us. To everyone who wishes they could sing that one song that always made them feel at home and brings back precious memories of their relationship with mom, I pray the Lord continues to comfort you. We all will leave this world one day, but I believe we shall meet again in a place where there is no death nor crying only rejoicing and sweet fellowship.
For me, the best gift I can offer my mum is the gift of my presence. My mother has been battling illness for over 10 years now. She used to be a very hardworking businesswoman. One day, while returning home after her sales for the day, she was attacked and everything she had was stolen. Since that incident, my mother has not been herself any more, it deeply affected her mentally. But I thank God for always providing the means to take her for treatment and for her life.
Recently, she called and asked when I would be coming back home. Before I could answer, she said I should at least come during the Christmas season. I told her I would come back before Christmas. So, I have made up my mind to surprise her this month or next month, my presence will be my special gift to her.
I believe the greatest gift any parent can give their child is their presence, even before material things fall in place. And for my mom, my presence means more than any other gift to her. Though I’m going with some goodies, she would still prefer to see me than receive material things.
This song is not only a worship to God but also a song of dedication to my mom. Truly, only God and a mother can love you so deeply and dearly that even after all your mess, they will still come to you, clean you up, and ask for nothing in return. Fathers do their best too, but it’s very rare to see them get involved in cleaning up the mess of children, sometimes it even irritates them. But mothers overlook all that.
I pray the Lord blesses all mothers and grants them long life to reap the fruit of their labor.
