Hey friends of Hive,

I welcome all Hive Open Mic community members to my blog. My name is @oluthomas, and I’m delighted to share my entry for Week 285 of the community’s weekly prompt with the theme “CATS.” 🐱

When I first saw this week’s theme, I was blank for a while, trying to figure out what to present. Then I decided I wouldn’t run to research for answers instead, I would write based on my own personal experience on what cats are all about.

My dad has always been a lover of cats, and for good reasons. Firstly, he believes that the presence of a cat in the house drives away rats or rodents. And truly, this has been real in our home because anytime he brings a cat, all the rodents suddenly become invisible 😹🤣.

Another reason my dad loves cats is because of how they interact with people. Cats have a playful way of rubbing around your body, and their gentle touches can make you feel calm after a stressful day. They also have emotions and they value their privacy 😹. One thing I admire most about disciplined cats is that they don’t mess up the house; they are naturally clean and dislike dirt.

Cats also inspire me with their resilience. I remember a time our cat misbehaved, and my sister decided to teach it a lesson. She put it in a sack and threw it into the river. To our greatest surprise, that same cat returned home strong and healthy! That experience taught me that cats don’t easily give up or die; they are die hard survivors.😹

In line with this week’s theme, we prepared a soft **keyboard and guitar cover of “Yeshua” by Jesus Image.** We didn’t play it exactly as the original but created our own version so you can feel the warmth and relaxation as you listen.
