We Lost Another One
I in no way whatsoever want to diminish the horrific suffering folks throughout the South are experiencing after Hurricane Helene. However I would certainly be remiss if I failed to mention that we lost yet another one of the greats. Perhaps he is better known for the tunes that he wrote rather than his own recordings, yet Kris Kristofferson was a performing member of the country supergroup: The Highwaymen.
Kris wrote such classics like Why Me Lord, Sunday Morning Coming Down, and Me and Bobby McGee. Now that Kris Kristofferson joins Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash in death, that leaves only Willie Nelson left alive. To the dismay of my captive children, there were many times I serenaded them with my rendition of Me and Bobby McGee while running down the highway.
Well it is still raining off and on here in Virginia. In the year that I have been here, I have never experienced such a long string of rainy days. In some ways I feel guilty because I feel that I brought the bad Michigan weather with me. Sounds like we may get a little bit of rain again tomorrow but then we should be good for at least a week of nice weather finally!

Great songwriter! I hadn’t heard that he had passed.
It’s a little unrelated, but one of my favorite stories involving him was told by Leonard Cohen when explaining his own song Chelsea Hotel. I’ll have to see if I can find the link and post here
Sweet, I love those kinds of stories!
