An Altar'd State
Happy Beautiful and Sublime Sunday, Yall!
Now this may look like a happy little Christmas scene at the mall. However, upon closer inspection there is a story behind the obvious. I circled the three employees that were present. I am pretty sure the lady on the farther right was asleep. The lady in the Santa hat in the back was lost in her phone. Of course poor Santa on the left no only had no que waiting for him, he had not a single soul!
Now what account for this? Could it be inflation is keeping many out of the mall. Perhaps everyone just shops at Amazon now? Is it the fear of Covid making a comeback? I am not sure if it isn't a combination of all of the above, but it was plainly obvious that Santa, and the mall were not overly popular this year!
Even the Apple store was less than packed.
The Beautiful Sunday and Sublime Sunday tags are some of my faves! I want to thank @ace108 for running the beautiful Sunday tag every week and keeping such detailed stats and supporting the accounts. Also, a shout out to @c0ff33a for the sublime Sunday tag where your random Sunday posts are always welcome!
The OldGuy is not at all a frequent visitor to the mall. In fact, I am severely ignorant of the latest stores and fashion trends. I know this will come as a shock to many of you, given what a dapper dresser I am lol.
I was sent on a mission to my very busy daughter to go to Altar'd State and pick up some dresses she had ordered. There was a big date apparently and not enough time to have the dresses shipped.
What I can say is Altar'd State is a really cool store! From what I have read, Altar'd State is a ladies fashion store, yet there were a few items I would wear... For example I liked that shirt with the electric guitar on the front that says Nashville Music City. They also had a nice looking cowboy hat much like my own! Hey could it be Country is coming back in style? I don't know about that, but I do know I had a big crush on Barbara Mandrell back around 1980 when she was on TV signing how she was country when country wasn't cool.
I mean what kind of a guy could resist a lady in those jeans and that sweet looking cowboy hat? Plus on sale!!!
You know you got you a real woman if she has boots with a heal like that. Hell to the yeah! 🤣
On a more serious note, Altar'd State is a store that has a conscience. First they give service members a 15% discount.

I definitely haven't been to a mall in some years.
Crazy how things have changed. I'm sure before covid, that placed would have been packed wall t0 wall this last week before Christmas.
That store looked pretty stocked, but I will say about a year and a half after covid started, I made a rare visit into a store I loved to see about a birthday present for my Mom, only to find there was barely any stock in the area that I loved and it looked somewhat leftover. It's not that I didn't understand they may not have had many customers in a while so they just didn't get more in, but then if there was nothing much there, why would customers come back? Somewhat of a vicious circle.
Well stocked and really attractively arranged. Yet you know when Apple is not packed, they all must be hurting. My daughter did her part to keep them going, although she actually ordered online and just picked up at the store.
Wouldn't surprise me if people are holding on to their iPhone/iPad/MacBook longer these days. Apple isn't nearly as innovative as it once was. This year's products look pretty much like last years or those of five years ago for that matter.
Agreed. To me there hasn't been a lot of new tech that made me feel like I had to own it right now.
Our malls are definitely more crowded than these even on weekdays now.
I have never been a huge mall person, not for years and years. They have long ago lost their luster. They have all the flagship stores, and some of the stores look wonderfully set up, yet, I would rather go anywhere else.
They started going downhill years ago and becoming hangouts for teens, and I lost interest. Now, I have been gone so long, the stores have closed, moved out, been bought out by someone bigger...
I know they have their place, they are just not my cup of tea.
