Always a Day Late...
I love to participate in Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, however being busy trying to get my house in order to sell has been running me ragged and I hate being tardy for Market Friday. Hopefully Denise will be accommodating and as gracious as ever and forgive this slight tardiness. This working day in and day out seven days a week has made me realize I am too old for this noise! But, be that as it may, I needed some more mulch. I quit counting a while back but think I am well north of 200 heavy bags of wet mulch and counting.
I realize no one want to hear me whine about all the hard and heavy work I have been doing so lets talk about some food....one of my faves: Olives! While I was at Menards, I grabbed a jar of these wickedly awesome olives with a zing!
These olives hit hard with lots of garlic, basil and oregano, not to mention a nice habanero heat!
As is plain to see, they do not scrimp at all with the seasoning, which is commiserate with the price.
If you are an olive lover, these are well worth trying!
Now to a more serious note. The older I get, the more convinced either the world has gone mad, or possibly I have. Kind of hard to tell which actually, much like Einstein's equivalence principle lol. I look out at the world and ask myself, what is going on. I really like Marvin Gaye's lyrics to the classic What's Going On. According to Wikipedia the concept started
While traveling on his tour bus with the Four Tops on May 15, 1969, Four Tops member Renaldo "Obie" Benson witnessed an act of police brutality and violence committed on anti-war protesters who had been protesting at Berkeley's People's Park in what was later termed as "Bloody Thursday".[9] Benson later told author Ben Edmonds, "I saw this and started wondering 'what was going on, what is happening here?' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What%27s_Going_On_(Marvin_Gaye_album)
Today we hear the Russian pilots tried to get our pilots to dogfight over Syria according to CNN, https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/29/europe/russia-fighter-pilots-dogfight-us-jets-syria-intl-hnk/index.html
Have we ever been much closer to WW3? Really we all better start asking, Whats Going On? Like the old saying went: one nuclear bomb can ruin your whole day...

I love olives more and more as I grow up! 🍡Used to be found only in my dirty vodka martinis🍸, as a pizza topping🍕, or on a vegetable platter. Nowadays they are a go-to salty low calorie snack in the same way many people enjoy pickles and I learned to make a super tasty Greek salad with various olives the entire family enjoys. I'll have to try these, Paul. Adding to my Menards shopping list.
Have a great Saturday night and rest of the weekend! @old-guy-photos🌙☀️💫
Hiya Nina! Always great to see you!
Oh yeah I love me some Greek salad with a little gyro and spinach pie and some baklava for dessert of course lol.
I know I've said this somewhere before, but I didn't grow up with olives, so they weren't something I was used too. As an adult, I have tried a bite of one here or there and my tongue didn't like it ! At least one was so amazingly salty, it was just like a salt ball ! LOL.... so.... so far, I haven't learned to like them. I do like other things that have orgeno, garlic and basil though, so I can only imagine that it kicks them up a notch.
What's going on? I ask myself that nearly every day now when I see things in the news.
Really scary times. So much so that I think we have become desensitized to the peril we are in...
I don't feel like I'm desensitized so much, but I definitely don't what if anything I can do about it.
Scary for sure !
Listen to the NoAgenda podcast
It is great for coping with all the media insanity!

Oh I catch both shows a week plus the Keeper 😉
No, no! Finish whining so that can be over and done with. One can never resist good bellyaching, yes?
Now back to the olives! You know I just love olives and must say I probably eat some kind of olive at least once a day, most likely in a salad or a vegetable plate in between breakfast and dinner if I had no lunch. I like all kinds, I don't play favorites, although I do have discriminating taste! There is something so satisfying about them and funny enough, even though they are mostly fat, funny enough, in olives and olive oil, it is actually heart-healthy. Vitamin E,.. the whole gambit!
I have never seen or eaten the olives you show. It sounds like something I might be interested in!
That would be hard to resist! I will have to Google them, I left Menards behind when I sold the summer house. They are either giant olives or that is a small jar!
What do you think of Ed and the lawsuit? You have got to be inspired from somewhere, right? Syria/dogfight. Too depressing, CNN. Give me some happy news.
Thank you so much for joining #MarketFriday! The post fits perfectly, Was there any doubt?
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday

#MarketFriday loves you!
They are huge olives, but pack a little heat tbh. I am an olive fiend so I cant help but love them all lol.
Yeah the Ed suit is on the Gaye song Lets Get It On. I think he owes a credit. Rick in this video actually shows the waveforms to be basically identical for part of the song. It is fine to borrow or sample, but just give the credit upfront, Ed can afford it.
Please check this out at the 35 second mark and let me know what you think.
Bous! I found a store that carries them plus a store called Rural KInd ships them. :)
They are not cheap at Menards, but it is reflected in the tons of seasoning they use.
