MUSIC SPEAKS

The impact of music in our everyday life goes way beyond just entertainment, most times, it speaks encouragement, love, hate, sadess, motivation and kind words to our soul.

The music we choose to listen to at any given moment determines our mood, and sometimes, it also speaks volume to our personality.

I'm a huge fan of music, not just any kind of music, but songs that was made with hardwork, and lots of emotions.

Its not a new news that i'm a huge fan of Eminem. Em is a lyrical genius whos word play is on a whole different level, and can not be compared to all these mumble rappers.

There are many songs that i love listening to, but then, only a handful are my favourite.

My favourite song is Rock bottom by Eminem.

This song is well made, the lyrics speaks deep down to a persons soul, reflecting on the sufferings people go through on a daily basis, just to get something on their table, be rich, and get fame.

here's the intro

Ayo, this song is dedicated
To all the happy people
All the happy people who have real nice lives
And have no idea what it's like to be broke as fuck 1

There are many rich people out there that were born with a silver spoon. All throug their life, they know not what it means to go out during the day, search for bread, and sometimes, come back home to their family with little or no bread.

In the first verse, Eminem went further to add something that I totally relate to. He said,

Minimum wage got my adrenaline caged
Full of venom and rage, 'specially when I'm engaged
And my daughter's down to her last diaper, it's got my ass hyper
I pray that God answers, maybe I'll ask nicer
Watchin' ballers while they flossin' in they Pathfinders
These overnight stars becomin' autograph-signers 2

I was not born to a rich and wealthy family, but then, we had enough to manage with. Many things happened when i was growing up. My family, though it was not all that free from problems between spouse, it was just the perfect one i needed.

I found myself trying to struggle on my own to prove to everyone who doubted my capacity, even my old man, that i can become somebody independently. The struggle is hard, I became friends with rich dudes who have one or two cars, and the oppression was getting to my neck. I could not do nothing but hide my sadness. I was not jealous or something, but i wanted to live that life that they are living. It was like; somebody i living your dreams and it seems like all your efforts to live that dream is not yielding any result. ya'know.

Every single month, you collect minimu wage that is not enough to pay for transportation, talk more of paying for your basic
necessities of life, and there is somebody, my friend, spending tens and hundreds of thousand in the club and on prostitutes. Money that could be used for a more better thing. Welp, again, they have people to buy their needs for them.

You want to see the songs chorus? welp here it is

That's rock bottom, when this life makes you mad enough to kill
That's rock bottom, when you want somethin' bad enough to steal
That's rock bottom, when you feel like you've had it up to here
'Cause you mad enough to scream, but you sad enough to tear 3

Welp, illegalities and rascality is not an option, its either legal and responsible or nothing.

HOW I FEEL WHEN I LISTEN TO THE SONG?

Most of the times, life happens. Being a young man that is navigating round the rough corners of life, it is normal to see more "downs" than "up" times. Sometimes, you feel like nothing is working, some times you feel stressed and want to give up, but then, this type of music is all it takes to bring you back on track.

Everytimes, when i listen to this song, i feel good. It helps me relax, take things slower, take a pause and think of the mistakes that got me to where i am. Gradually, i will get the solution and i need, and learn the lessons life wanted me to learn.

This song is both a source of motivation for me, and a source of relaxation. The lyrics is really good, same as the beat - it got me nodding double times.

I admire some of Eminem songs but I'm not a die-hard fan of his. I can definitely relate with the lyrics of the song you highlighted and your perspective of it. We all have our stories and truth be told not so many people had all they wanted while growing up even till this moment, life can be cruel but it is what we make of it that matters.

Omo, you are very right, music has a way of affecting our mood and even our mindset. The kind of songs we listen to often has the potency of influencing some of our actions

Eminem is boss, I rocked his songs a lot when I was in secondary school. One thing I love about his songs is his message are not coded, they are always plain and bold. I have never heard this song of his though, but I'll check it out.

Eminem,
It's only a few of his songs I relate to...."I'm not afraid"

With his fast tone for raps, how do you guys pick words from the lyrics? Maybe my ears are blunt. Lol😂

The song is thought-provoking. While some people live in abundance, some are struggling to get food into their stomach and get a shelter. It's a world struggle.
