My First Ever Concert Experience

After more than a decade in my music journey, I finally had the privilege of hosting my first ever concert. Over the years, I served as a music director in my church in school for over two years, meanwhile I was serving as an assistant music director for two years plus before Eventually, I was appointed as the music director and I decided to mark my tenure with a special concert a way to give thanks, celebrate, and hand over to the next set of leaders coming after me.

The first step was finding the perfect theme for the program. After prayer and reflection, I received the name "Fountain", inspired by a revelation and the Bible passage John 4 :14 I quickly formed a planning team, and together we began mapping out everything the concert would need.

I budgeted about ₦100,000 (roughly ₦79,000 in detailed plans). But as the date drew closer, the total spending grew and what I could account for after the event was over ₦160,000. Surprisingly, I can’t fully explain how all the funds came through, but God provided! Many expenses were unplanned from fixing a faulty generator during the event, to paying for extra decorations, to accommodating and feeding ministers who traveled from another city.

The success of this concert was only possible because of my well wishers my friends, senior colleagues, and loved ones who stood by me. They sent in financial support, moral support, and spiritual support through prayers and advice. My pastor was also a huge blessing, helping to pay part of the cost for the sound system we used. We even made provisions for extra chairs for the overflow and secured media gadgets to capture the event.

Unfortunately, not everything went as planned. The media team could not live stream as intended, and the lyrics we provided were not displayed. They also failed to capture many key moments, the musicians playing, the spiritual atmosphere, and certain highlights , due to a sudden camera malfunction. In the end, we had to rely on iPhones and other high-resolution phones to record what we could.

There was also mismanagement of time. We planned for about 2 hours and 20 minutes, but the program stretched to over 3 hours. This caused some guests to leave early because of safety concerns in the student environment, especially as there had been reports of gang related disturbances in nearby lodges.

Despite these challenges, the concert was a huge success and an unforgettable success in my life. It was stressful and financially demanding . I kept spending without hesitation, determined to create the perfect atmosphere for that day. But God’s provision was evident, and I believe the experience has laid a strong foundation for those coming after me.

It wasn’t easy, but it was worth every effort. I am grateful to God, to my supporters, and to everyone who made this dream a reality.

I when i finished the programme i realised the extra money i used to cover the extra budgets and non budget was my HBD.

Hmmmmm, i am a student so no money could be enough than running back to HBD in my wallet,and it came through for me.
