I am launching a new section, called \"Street Talent\", I decided to give it that name to refer to those masters of music that attract us from the street with their spectacular presentations. \r\n

\r\n Y esta entrega est\u00e1 dedicada al maestro Javier, musico peruano especializado en instrumentos de viento, especialmente aquellos relacionados a la cultura andina. Javier aparte de deleitarnos con su presentaci\u00f3n musical, nos habla un poco de cada uno de los instrumentos que utiliza en su performance. As\u00ed que disfruten de este recorrido fotogr\u00e1fico, y por supuesto del recurso audiovisual que encabeza esta publicaci\u00f3n. \r\n\r\n

Quena, Quenacho\u2026.\u00bfes lo mismo?

\r\n Bien dice el dicho que cada d\u00eda se aprende algo nuevo. De verdad no sab\u00eda de la diferencia entre estos dos t\u00e9rminos hasta que interact\u00fae con Javier. \u00c9l nos explica que la quena tiende a ser m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a, como la que se muestra a continuaci\u00f3n: \r\n\r\n

Quena, Quenacho....is it the same?

\r\n As the saying goes, you learn something new every day. I really didn't know the difference between these two terms until I interacted with Javier. He explains that the quena tends to be smaller, like the one shown below:\r\n\r\n

\r\n Por su parte el Quenacho tiende a ser m\u00e1s alargado y con un sonido m\u00e1s grave. Tanto la Quena como el Quenacho tienen en com\u00fan que pueden venir en diferentes tonalidades, acotando que esta variedad de instrumentos no tiene una presentaci\u00f3n crom\u00e1tica, y esto es una importante diferencia con la flauta dulce. En la imagen que sigue el maestro Javier nos muestra el Quenacho. \r\n

\r\n\r\n On the other hand, the Quenacho tends to be more elongated and with a deeper sound. Both the Quena and the Quenacho have in common that they can come in different tonalities, noting that this variety of instruments does not have a chromatic presentation, and this is an important difference with the recorder. \r\n El sonido que emite este instrumento es bastante grave, y su ejecuci\u00f3n exige mucho diafragma por la gran longitud de los tubos que proporcionan las notas graves. Javier nos cuenta que de esta variedad tenemos una m\u00e1s grande que ser\u00eda el \u201cTOYO\u201d . Y alej\u00e1ndonos un poco de los sonidos graves tenemos el \u201cBASTO\u201d \r\n

\r\n\r\n

\r\n\r\n The sound emitted by this instrument is quite low, and its execution requires a lot of diaphragm due to the great length of the tubes that provide the bass notes. Javier tells us that of this variety we have a larger one which would be the \"TOYO\". And moving away from the bass sounds we have the \"BASTO\".\r\n

\r\nHaciendo una analog\u00eda con la familia de Flautas Dulces, este instrumento viene siendo como el Contra-Alto, como pueden apreciar la longitud de los tubos no es tan larga en comparaci\u00f3n del SEMI-TOYO. Finalmente llegamos a la ZAMPO\u00d1A, ac\u00e1 el maestro Javier nos presenta su ZAMPO\u00d1A crom\u00e1tica, es decir, la misma tiene todas las tonalidades.\r\n

Si tenemos una canci\u00f3n que se encuentre en La Mayor, simplemente no la podr\u00eda ejecutar. Digamos que con la zampo\u00f1a crom\u00e1tica se solventar\u00eda ese problema, espero tener pronto una de estas en mis manos, para comenzar a practicar. \r\n\r\n
