Martian Drum & Bass

I don't often wonder about how they rave over on the red planet but for the sake of today's post, let's entertain that idea!

Today's share comes from the Space Adventure EP and is called "Life on Mars", which was actually one of the first drum & bass tracks I produced in the music software, if not, THE first one I made.

This would have been around 2011 when I was getting to grips with the software as I'd spent about 15 years prior just playing around on my old musical keyboard.

I'd taught myself all the tunes and only had a couple of lessons with my grandparents when I was a kid. Most of those lessons were spent just pressing keys and trying out different dials, seeing how that changed the sounds!

I remember falling in love with the noises that you could create from these magic black and white pieces of plastic and my parents bought me a keyboard for a birthday back in 1996.

So that's a good 15 years of pent up "playing around" that needed to make its way out to the rest of the world and as time has gone on, influences have migrated and my sound has evolved as well.

As I've also had a strong interest in learning about the Universe and the wonders that are out there, the Space Adventure EP seemed like a great place to merge these two interests together!

Life on Mars is a little more rugged in its sound but then again, Mars is a little rugged itself :)
