90s Rave Music Meets Drum & Bass
Let's rewind the clock a few decades to a time where it was popular to sample chlidren's TV jingles and melodies to rave tracks!
Back in the early 1990s, Urban Hype released a "toy town Techno" classic, which made it's way in to the charts called Trip to Trumpton.
At that time, particularly in the UK, many dance music tracks featured/sampled children's TV themes or jingles. Trip to Trumpton sampled various parts from the popular TV series "Trumpton", which was enjoyed across the nation in the 1960s.
Examples would be "Charly" by Prodigy and "Sesame's Treat", sampling, you guessed it, Sesame Street!
With Trip to Trumpton, the fire alarm, whistle, "time for Trumpton" and "Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble & Grubb!" were the main samples used here.
I was looking for a drum & bass remix of this track to feature in a mix in 2022 but couldn't find one so thought I'd make my own based on the original from 1992 by Urban Hype.
After finding an extended version of their track which had the drum break in, I used that and found samples of the original Trumpton show to feature in this.
The piano, synth strings, bass line and everything else were re-done by me as I couldn't get a clean sample from the original and of course, the amen drum break has to feature when remixing a classic :)
Enjoy!
My oh my. You've made an old man very happy today 👏
Boom! Thanks for listening in! More 90s remixes coming in 2023 :)
How interesting, I like it and it sounds powerful. I'm not from that era, but it feels in it that with a bit of drive. Attractive in every way.
Thanks man! Yeah drum and bass music genre is all about the fast beats and strong basslines but you can create all kinds of different sounds depending on the sub-genre - really pleased you like it :)
Thanks for the curation!
