One More Than Three Tunes Tuesday

This is actually an extremely late entry for Hive Open Mic 135, 136 and 137 all in one go.

It was a great few weeks of prompt journey that began with "Fight Oppression", moved on to "Let's Rock" and ended with "Healing" as themes and I was dead set on participating.

Thing is... I was on the go and both abode and tech wasn't in the flow.

hr.png

I rambled around, outdoors for two days, trying to learn and record the first song. The wind was blowing, the sound was awful and folks also kept walking on by. I probably should have been born in Canada because I feel obliged to say hello to everyone so interruptions were many, mistakes were many (still learning the chords) and there was no way I could record it in the room I'd rented.

In short... there was no way I could make the deadline.

For any of the themes as it turned out! 😬

hr.png

Nevertheless I persevered because, if there's one thing I've learned about Hive, folks around here are really chilled and forgiving about when and how. As long as you do.

I couldn't practice or record in the rental in Pringle Bay, because the place was made from Nutek and the sound carried big time. I could hear the thumping of footsteps upstairs frequently and I didn't want to bother anyone else in the place with my still being learned (after twenty odd years and sill can't actually play it properly) guitar.

Sound carries upwards apparently.

I eventually found a half built house down the road and meandered down at the end of a work day to record in an unfinished bathroom. We make a plan, right?

You'll see the first two songs move from late afternoon light into sunset as the daylight waned. I could hear the birds calling and even saw a few of them fly overhead as the roof still wasn't on the place. A sunset sky. A mistake or two as well, but it was getting cold and I just rolled with it.

hr.png

Then sh!t happened and I had to leave the planned summer holiday with my son, that was definitely doing my health a ton of good, and relocate back to Somerset West for the next while or as soon as I can move on.

Nice suburb, but super suburban it is and I've now accepted that I'm wild at heart and need the open spaces to feel alive and to really thrive.

I've lost weight again and woke up coughing again this morning. The place we landed in on two days notice isn't ideal for us and the stress messes me up pretty quickly now. I'm trying to get further out of the city again as soon as possible...

Still... the internet here is affording me time to post some of the content I created in Pringle Bay over the last weeks and catch up a bit with belated prompts and old favourite initiatives here on Hive. Like Three Tune Tuesday, which is why I'm putting this up today.

Some incorrect lyrics. Some missed chords. But we focus on connection and not perfection, right?

I'm happy that ended your dinner well!

And thank you for the lovely compliment. I was about to say I'm getting old and blah blah...

But perhaps I'm getting old enough to accept a lovely compliment.

Thank you 😊🙏

Not sure what the term 'getting old' means at all... 🙄

But if so, you are getting old and pretty. 😋

I freaking loved this post, Nicky 💗Oh my goodness, you have a beautiful voice and you look lovely in these clips. You are talented. Your choice of songs is PERFECT!!! Loved every rendition with your personal approach to each of them... and it has been ages since I have heard Weeping - I love that song so much. It made me smile to watch you wince every now and then; you pick up things that I didn't even notice... to me ...it was perfect ❣️ I am bookmarking this to come back and listen again whenever I need to hear these beautiful soulful unplugged renditions. Thank you for this! Made my day 💞🙌🙏!LUV !ALIVE !LADY

Thanks, Sam :D

Your message last night also made me so happy and I was a bit too emotional to reply.

I'm doing that today. Just getting my punk face back on 😊💗

And yes. Such a great song. Loved it back then and SA was so brutal and volatile back then. It's kind of a permanent bit of that history now, isn't it?

I think Bright Blue nailed it. And it stuck with me up until now.

Yes. I speak with my face a lot 😆 I've toned it down. But it's still super expressive. I think it's because I love language and communicating.

I ran around with a group of French boys in my twenties and couldn't speak the language and perhaps I learned to talk with expression as well.

And kids. Of course. My son used to say I was goofy when I did playground duty. But the kids loved it.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. I'm really a total novice and just play because it sooths my soul.

And it's fun!!! 😁

Awesome creative output there Nicky despite all the challenges of the day. Moving around so much is really strenuous and unsettling and taxing to the health. Well done for persevering, as you said. It pays off in the long run to push ourselves to make these posts.

You will be inspired when you see the value of Hive coin start going up again, as it usually does when the cycle turns upward. All your Hive coins will be worth maybe 5x what they are now (potentially 10x, since Hive has been worth $3 already). That's how I keep myself inspired to push on and make a post a day if possible (while wifi is available too). It may only be in 2025 of course, like a long term investment.

Thanks, J.

In all honesty it's the community that is valuable to me and the coin can do as it does.

Logging on and finding everyone stopping by to say hello and the warmth and support is keeping me going in many ways.

It's the community that makes any of this possible. Really. That's worth more than anything any coin could buy.

You just don't find so many kindreds in one pool anywhere else on the planet.

I call us the rebels and the misfits. Stolen of course. But look... they do change the world as it turns out 👍

Love and hope, my friend, are priceless!

Hahaha. I've been in the US for years now, and still find myself saying "sorry" more often than I probably should.

Great tunes! One can almost never go wrong with the Grateful Dead.

I like hearing live music, and there's something really nice about an acoustic guitar. You sound terrific.

Aw. Thanks :D

Very kind of you.

I'm a learner bee. Perpetually as it turns out. But I think we should also sing anyway 💥

Ripple. 💗 That one means a lot to me personally. I bet The Grateful Dead turned over in their grave but man do I love that song

That just sums being a seeker and traveler up in full. Masterful...

Go @nickydee!!!! These were great song choices and so well performed, I'd never heard you sing before and really enjoyed the last 18 minutes listening to you. Well 17'59 to be exact which was maybe a sublimal nod to Bono and the Irish, what with 1759 being the year Guinness was first brewed and all that, great synchronicity. Well done anyway on a fantastic post.

Thank you!

And thanks for the great initiative. Let the music play on. 🌺 😊

Blindly voted this one because I knew it would be good but shit, you just keep getting better for my brain. The honey brown eyes? Hey, do the tattoos bear any significance? I know some peoples' tell stories. But they are like scars where memories are forgotten and scars remind. Just curious.

(Edited)

Grey green eyes... depending on the mood and weather.

Right arm is a Phoenix ;)

Left leg is a redo of a fuck up done randomly when I was high in London a lifetime ago.

And more added to it some years later to update it. Purely decorative but the oriental one had meaning...

So three tats on the left leg and ankle / foot in one.

Now want a dragon full calf and up into a thigh. Know you'll understand this one. Prolly won't find the time but it'd be pretty cool.

Any tattoos over there?

Phoenix was my first year sober birthday after I got out of a hectic situation and got sober. Boy did I jump the gun 🙄

They totally look like a honey brown in that video. !LOLZ on the phoenix but life is what it is. Love to be the artist on the dragon 😁 as for me? No, no ink (yet?), but I have those other things - many a scar. Even branded ourselves a few times when I was younger. Can't go far on my skin without a scar and a story.

Scars are super sexy. Both inside and out. Shows life and experience and you can't beat a good story.

I'd like to read it in Braille
