Underated Gems: Dive Into My Music Obsession

avatar

Music they say is food for the soul . Unfortunately, I’m a huge music lover and even when I started my no music journey some months ago, I somehow managed to fall back into the pit. Music brings me solace. When I’m going through a good or bad time, the kind of music I listen to would just give you a hint.

For someone who falls into depression every second, you’d be surprised with the kind of songs I listen to. Everyone just somehow assumes that all ladies listen to only Adele, Ariana Grande or any other love song they come across. Well, this lady(me) is different.

I once told someone I love dancehall and their mouth dropped. This person then proceeded to ask me to name a few dancehall artistes and their songs. Well, I didn’t disappoint if you know me.😅🤝 I’d like to believe that my taste in music has evolved so much over the years. Two years ago, I was a die hard dancehall fan. I would listen to Alkaline, Jahmiel, Popcaan and my all time favourite, Tommy Lee Sparta.

Along the line, I started to mix dancehall with Afro beats but some of these artistes are really inconsistent if you ask me. Aside Burna boy , Davido and a few others, most of the Afro beat artistes just come and drop an album only to return years later. Where are the likes of Wizkid and Omah lay. They have just gone into hiding after releasing a hit song. One thing I hate in my life is inconsistency. Don’t start something you can’t finish.😂

Thanks to some inconsistent ones, another genre of music managed to catch my eye and I think I’m stuck for live. Why do people hate band music? If you ask me, I’d say that’s the best genre of music there has ever been. Take a look at west life, one direction and even Kodaline which is my favourite of them all.

I find band music to be very relatable. There are so many bands out there that are underrated. I discovered Kodaline some years ago and I just can’t get enough of them. They always find a way to get to me with their music because it isn’t loud like some people I know, I didn’t say Davido.😂

Let me not forget to talk about one other musician who has had my heart from day one. James Arthur always manages to serve us with hot songs all the time and he makes sure to make it a mix of pop, R&B and even rock. People like this are those who understood the assignment and got a 100/10. James Arthur and Kodaline have to be the all time goats in the history of music for me. They deserve their crowns.

For anyone looking to spice up their playlist a bit, I’d recommend James Arthur, Kodaline, Benson Boone, Mark Ambor, and Dave. Feel free to check out the links i have shared. But don’t forget, I listen to everything - that’s if I like it. So, don’t hesitate to reach out to me for recommendations!

Band music, you say
I can agree because I listen to live band performances of some afrobeats artistes and I like them more than their original songs
