The Gift I Did Not Expect

Last month, I turned 30. This means I was able to surpass and survive the previous year with so much gratefulness in my heart. I am thankful for all the graces, good health, and peace showered on me, to my loved ones and my entire family. I was able to finally flip a page, having memories as its content - the content of failures, disappointments, learning, surprises, wins, and blessings. I never thought that at 30, I would be loved, favored, and blessed the way I couldn't believe I deserved.

As I get a year older, I have become endlessly grateful for everything around me. I have learned to fully surrender everything to Him, including the silent battles I have to brave through every day. I have realized that there is so much to be grateful for in this life. Yes, I still have dreams and plans to pursue, yet, I have traveled and have gone far, slowly but surely making those dreams into reality. One step at a time.

As I grew older, birthday celebrations became a lot simpler and a lot more exclusive. Not grand. Not extravagant. As long as I am celebrating with the people I hold closest to my heart. I am used to giving longer birthday messages to those who matter to me. I am used to giving the little that I have to important individuals on their special day. I am used to it and receiving something on my birthday was something I never thought of or imagined. But yeah, life is full of surprises and unexpected blessings!

I have been into singing since second grade. I have sung in church even now. That is why, learning how to play a musical instrument specifically the guitar has been my obsession. I once studied playing it but since I do not have my guitar, my practice was put on hold. And now, I think I can pursue my liking for playing guitar.

This melted my heart, my birthday present ----- my guitar, which I have been longing for for years already.

I have been practicing using the easiest chords the beginner should know and at this moment, I have played a couple of songs already, playing the guitar and singing at the same time. Sometimes, over the phone, I play the guitar and my partner sings.❤️

THINGS I AM GRATEFUL FOR

THE GIFT OF LIFE. Every day is a blessing, a chance to live life and achieve dreams. No matter how difficult life seems to be, as long as we're breathing and we are gifted with a brand new day, we're not losing hope.

THE PEOPLE AROUND ME. As they say, no man is an island. I am beyond favored for the instruments of love God has sent me. I am lucky to have a strong support system that never fails to uplift me and make my existence even more meaningful.

WORK. Though a lot tiring and demanding, I am still and always be thankful for having a job that allows me to put food on the table and let me buy things I want. With this profession too, I am able and continuously molding the hope of our future.

GOOD HEALTH. More than all the material possessions, good health is one of the most
priceless treasures one has.

SAFETY. Travelling every day to work and sometimes being alone in the house is a lot scarier but because prayers work, I am always safe.

PEACE AND HAPPINESS. These two go hand in hand. These are non-negotiable. Too priceless. Two of the most vital intangible things one must have.

There are a lot of things to be grateful for in life but sometimes we become too preoccupied with the things we want, ignoring the blessings we already have. Life is beautiful. Life is precious. And so are you.❤️
